The Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon (SCSM) 2017 was held on the morning of Sunday, 03 December 2017. The annual event attracts thousands of runners from Singapore and abroad, and large-scale road closures in the City were in place to facilitate the event.

Between 2011 and 2015, Public Transport Operators SMRT and SBS Transit have commenced train services early to bring runners into the City during the early hours. However, this was ceased in 2016, with SMRT citing scheduled rail maintenance works on that day. As a result, event organizers arranged shuttle bus services from the heartlands to the City in the early hours of the morning, bringing participants to the City in time for the race.
Similar to 2016 arrangements, large numbers of SBS Transit buses were chartered for the 2017 Singapore Marathon. A map of the pick-up points are shown below:
Three different shuttle services were operated:
- Heartlands to Somerset Stn, Somerset Rd (2 am)
- Heartlands to Opp Orchard Stn, Orchard Blvd (3 am)
- Heartlands to Kallang Leisure Park Carpark 4 (3 am)
For the 2017 Race, the flag-off location for Full Marathon, Half Marathon and Ekiden (Runner 1) was located at Orchard Road and could take either the 2 am bus to Somerset or the 3 am bus to Orchard to get there. Ekiden Runners 2 to 6, with changeover zones scattered around the Full Marathon route, would take the 3 am bus to Kallang Leisure Park. From there, separate shuttle bus services will bring them to their respective changeover zones. Changeover zones can be found on this map. Bus services were not made available for 10km runners, as public transport were available before their flag-off time.
SBS Transit deployed a full fleet of Volvo B9TL buses for the shuttle. Except for a handful of buses with rear advertising, most buses did not bear any advertising wap.
Event organizers charged participants $7 per bus ticket. A wrist tag was issued as proof of purchase, to be produced when boarding the bus.
Somerset Route
The dropoff point for the Somerset Route is Bus Stop 08121 – Somerset Rd (Somerset Stn). Buses depart from the respective pick-up points at 2 am.
Orchard Route
The dropoff point for the Somerset Route is Bus Stop 09022 – Orchard Blvd (Bef Orchard Stn Exit B). Buses depart from the respective pick-up points at 3 am.
