Zhongtong N12D launched on Tower Transit Bus 189 & 941

On 29 October 2025, the Zhongtong N12D made its revenue service debut on Tower Transit Bus Services 189 and 941.

The Zhongtong N12D is the second 3-door 2-staircase electric double-decker bus to enter revenue service trials, shortly after the CRRC eD12 was launched earlier this month. Several bus manufacturers have manufactured prototype 3-door 2-staircase double-decker buses ahead of the award of the PT602 electric bus tender.

The bus was first unveiled in Singapore on 11 October 2024, and later also exhibited at the LTA-UITP Singapore International Transport Congress & Exhibition (SITCE) in November 2024. The bus was registered on 7 October 2025 to Tower Transit, bearing the registration number SG4014Y. Revenue service began on 29 October 2025.

Why 131 and 141 LTA refuse to retire those Scania buses and replace them with the 3 doors electric double decker buses ?

Most of the times so crowded also.

Service 131 falls under the Bukit Merah bus package, with buses garaging at Ulu Pandan bus depot. Unfortunately this depot lacks the facilities for electric bus charging, likewise for BBDEP. Thus SBS Transit western depots are way behind the national standards, unable to deploy any EV buses.

I’m saddened by the influx of China-made vehicles into Singapore’s streets. This is the start of over-reliance on China brands and it does not bode well in the future. They may be affordable but it’s still 2nd or 3rd rate quality dressed up to look 1st rate. When things happen, it will be bad.

This is excuses no electric charging ? Install them at the depot .

And all the vantage scania buses for 131 and 141 LTA refuse to deploy new buses to retire these Scania buses as LTA have the new buses why other services have new buses deployed?

Why can’t build a AIRCON ITH with BTO development above at former Farrer park Stadium land as is a suitable land to build with the upcoming Piccadilly Galleria + Farrer park MRT and hotels all around the corner ?

And most of the time both services both directions so crowded.

Pls deploy double decker 3doors bus for both services. Asap
