A new Integrated Transport Hub (ITH) is planned for Hougang Central and will be built in the future. As of June 2025, the parcel of land is open for tender by the Housing and Development Board.
The awarded tenderer will construct the ITH as part of a Mixed Commercial and Residential Development Integrated with a Bus Interchange.
Master Plan 2019 Amendment
In October 2024, under a gazetted Proposed Amendment to Master Plan 2019 (Amendment No. MPA20240171), the comment provided by the Urban Redevelopment Authority mentioned plans for an integrated transport hub in the Hougang Central area.
The proposed amendments are to facilitate a commercial/residential development integrated with bus interchange and MRT interchange station to support the demand for housing in the area and allow residents to benefit from the new transport node and commercial amenities.
The integrated development will be bounded by Hougang Avenue 10 and Hougang Central.
Location
The future Hougang Central ITH will be located within a mixed-use commercial and residential development with a Town Plaza. This mixed-use development would be bounded by Hougang Avenue 10 to the north and Hougang Central to the south.
Vehicular access to the bus interchange will be via the junction of Hougang Ave 6 / Hougang Ave 10, as well as Hougang Central.
The awarded tenderer for the development would be also required to demolish the existing Hougang Central Bus Interchange.
