A new 6-month trial for shared priority at wheelchair bays for strollers & wheelchairs on 10 bus services, titled “First to Board, First to Use“, will be launched in April 2026, which was announced by the Land Transport Authority (LTA) on 27 April 2026.
Under the trial, the wheelchair bay onboard buses on selected services will be on a first-board-first-use basis.
Wheelchair / Personal Mobility Aids usually have priority of the wheelchair bay space onboard buses, with signage reminding commuters that “stroller should be folded to give priority to wheelchair user when needed”.
The 10 bus services for the trial are:
- 5, 54, 57, 67, 131, 143/143M, 166, 851/851e, 960/960e & 980
(inclusive of their short trip services 5A, 5B, 131A)
These bus services were chosen by LTA as they have high ridership of seniors and persons with disabilities, as well as near major maternity and paediatric hospitals.
The trial may also be expanded to other bus services.
LTA is also gathering feedback from the trial through this designated [link].
