The Yutong E12 is a battery-electric, low-floor single-deck city bus produced by Chinese manufacturer Zhengzhou Yutong Bus Co., Ltd. (宇通客车).
In 2025, Singapore’s Land Transport Authority (LTA) ordered 100 units as part of a larger procurement of 660 electric buses under Contract PT602. The buses feature a three-door configuration and are assigned the registration numbers SG3781Y – SG3880U. Buses are expected to enter passenger service at the end of 2026.
The procurement supports Singapore’s broader transition to an electric public bus fleet, with LTA targeting half of the public bus fleet to be electric by 2030. Further information on Singapore’s electric bus rollout is detailed in the article Electric Buses in Singapore.
Manufacturer Background
Headquartered in Zhengzhou, Yutong is the world’s and China’s largest bus and coach manufacturer by volume. It has exported nearly 130,000 buses to more than 100 countries and regions, with over 10% of the global market share.
In the Yutong E12, Yutong delivers a standard 12-metre electric low floor bus that has proven to be highly successful. Apart from domestic orders, Yutong E12 buses are deployed across Europe, the Asia-Pacific region, Latin America, and Central Asia.
In Singapore, Yutong previously supplied 10 Yutong E12 buses to Singapore under a previous LTA tender, alongside 10 Yutong E12DD buses. In 2025, it unveiled a new 3-door double-deck model for the Singapore market: the Yutong U12DD.
LTA Tender & Production Batch
In December 2025, Yutong International Trade Pte. Ltd. – Yutong Bus Co., Ltd Consortium was awarded Contract PT602E worth S$43.9 million for the supply of 100 single-deck electric buses. The order formed part of the LTA’s wider procurement of 660 electric buses under Contract PT602, which also involved Chinese manufacturers BYD, CRRC, and Zhongtong. Yutong supplied the Yutong E12 for this procurement, at an approximate unit cost of S$439,000 per bus.
The bus was sighted in Singapore sometime in late 2026.
Features
The Yutong E12 is a full-low-floor bus equipped with three doors. This is similar to LTA’s 2023 procurement of 420 single-deck electric buses (Contract PT601), which also specified a three-door layout.
The buses are equipped with driver-assistance and safety systems, including an anti-fatigue monitoring system, a 360-degree collision warning system and a camera mirror system. They also incorporate torque management features intended to improve acceleration smoothness.
