Changi MRT Depot is an at-grade train depot serving the East West Line (EWL).

The depot is built near Tanah Merah, covering an area of 250,000 square metres, and bordered by Upper Changi Road East, Xilin Avenue and Laguna Golf Green. It contains a maintenance facility and stabling area designed for 30 trains, and is accessed from Koh Sek Lim Road. It opened in 1989 along with the eastern stretch of the East West Line.

Situated between Simei and Tanah Merah stations along the East West Line, there are a total of 2 reception tracks: both heading westbound towards Tanah Merah station.

The depot will be replaced by the future East Coast Integrated Depot, scheduled for completion in 2026. The facility will also serve the Downtown Line and the Thomson-East Coast Line. Currently, modification work is being done on the reception tracks to accommodate the new depot, being built south of the current Changi Depot site.

When the EWL depot is operational, Changi Depot will be decommissioned and demolished, and the land reinstated and returned to the state.

Decommissioning of Changi Depot

Changi Depot is currently set to be decommissioned in the first half of 2026, after the East Coast Integrated Depot is fully operational for the East West Line.

As part of a 10 day closure on the EWL (Tampines – Bedok & Tanah Merah – Expo) in November & December 2025 for ECID integration works, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) mentioned that there would be one more planned service adjustment in the first half of 2026 to fully decommission the Changi Depot.

In October 2025, LTA published a tender for Demolition of Changi Depot and Associated Works (Contract T3015).
