Short Trip Service 138A operates from Springleaf MRT Station and ends at Mandai Lake Road (S’pore Zoo) to supplement the high demand for Service 138 to the Mandai Wildlife Reserve, which houses attractions such as Bird Paradise, River Wonders, Singapore Zoo and Night Safari. In the afternoons on Weekends & Public Holidays, Short Trip Service 138C operates in the reverse direction to Springleaf MRT Station.

Introduced in 2012, Service 138A initially operated from Ang Mo Kio Int to Singapore Zoo on Weekends & Public Holidays. In October 2024, the service was enhanced with daily trips departing from Springleaf MRT Station. From 16 March 2025, the route was shortened to start from Springleaf MRT Station without any press release issued by the operator, in tandem with the start of the second tendered package term of the Seletar Bus Package.
