Bus Service 18M is a route variant of Bus Service 18, introduced to serve residents along Tampines Street 96, including the HDB Build-To-Order (BTO) estates of Tampines GreenQuartz, Tampines GreenEmerald, and Tampines GreenOpal. The service provides a direct connection to Bedok Reservoir MRT station along the Downtown Line.

The introduction of Service 18M improves public transport connectivity for these new estates in Tampines Street 96 by providing a second bus option, complementing the existing Feeder Bus Service 299. In addition to rail connectivity, the route links residents to bus transfer stops along Bedok Reservoir Road and Bedok North Road. The service also enhances access to local amenities in Bedok North, such as Fengshan Community Club and Bedok 85 Market.

The launch of Service 18M was first announced on 6 February 2026. According to the published route diagram, Service 18M is offered as an interim service. In the longer term, Bus Service 18 is expected to be amended to serve Tampines Streets 96, 92, and 94 directly, including the addition of two new pairs of bus stops along Tampines Street 92. These amendments will only be carried out after completion of the ongoing road works in the area.

I heard that in future after the amendments, 18 will get a few DDs and about the termination it will be either Bedok Int(Supplement 17/17A) or Changi Business Park Terminal..

Haha, friends are very happy, cuz this route is almost exactly identical to the 18M they proposed

However, I think both 18 & 18M opens up a lot of greater potential, as long as they coexist
Firstly, since 18M covers for the high demand Bedok Nth Ave 4 – Bedok Rsvr MRT demand, 18 has a chance to be amended back to Bedok Ctrl, to reconnect both Tamp East (areas not served by 28) and Tamp North to Bedok Ctrl/MRT. Instead of going through Nth St 2 or Nth Ave 3 (where congestion is prominent), I think 18 should go via Bedok Nth Rd instead, helping connect Fengshan Market & Bedok Sports Ctr to Tampines East/Nth

Secondly, with 18 serving the main corridors, 18M unlocks a whole new possibility of serving estates further out of reach from where 18 serves. Yes, apart from Tamp St 92/96, there is also Tamp St 11/22 aka Tamp Changkat. This estate not only lacks connections to anywhere else but Tampines, the said feeder (292) that bridges them to Tampines suffers from reliability issues! Surprised?

Thus I would use 18M. After going through Tamp St 92/96, it can further extend to serve Tamp St 11, Tamp St 22 (unfortunately only in 1 direction due to road constraints), and lastly, serve Tamp East MRT Exits B/C before turning in via Tamp St 34 to loop in St 33.
Why the last bit you ask? Simple: properly reconnect Tamp St 33/34 to Tamp East MRT, their nearest DTL node. Currently, to access Tamp East MRT, you’d have to take 18 to Ave 9, then WALK more and even needing to cross the road just to enter the station. This extended 18M aims to solve that issue by providing a more convenient option. Not just that, intertown links to various amenities such as Holy Trinity Ch, Tampines Round Market, various CC & schools and more can be improved!

    What do y’all think?

going thru tamp st 22 etc or st 11, would prob mean DDs won’t operate on 18 since 292 doesn’t have DD, and demand is quite high. although there’s no specific fleet restrictions in both st 11 and 22.

Oh my days this seems like a HUGE waste of resources… I would rather there be a 69M instead… If really cannot should run 18M along the proposed amendment of 18…

18m is interim service. only. temp only until july 2026.. then route 18 will be amended to replace 18m with amended to serve Tampines Streets 96, 92, and 94 directly, including the addition of two new pairs of bus stops along Tampines Street 92. These amendments will only be carried out after completion of the ongoing road works in the area.

ECID will be in charge of Tampines package. BNDEP will only be responsible for Bedok and provide partial control for other SBS packages.

In the future, 18 entering the 90s tampines street has more benefits than 69, Namely the following.
      1. It caters to more schools along the way, namely the following:
Chongzheng, Yumin, Ngee Ann Sec, East Spring, Dunman Sec, Tampines North Pri and a slight walking distance to Poi Ching, benefitting schoolchildren.
      2. It also caters to NTUC Health tampines as well as Round Market/Food centre, benefitting the elderly in the new HDBs.

69 only covers Springfield and Temasek Poly and Tampines central community hub. 299 technically covers the east end of Temasek Poly and while 69 also serves tampines station, 299 gets there faster. Therefore, 18 is most justified than 69 to be rerouted as it helps the most with school children and elderly. 18B should be needed for the long run to cater school children better.

Rerouting 69 would help supplement 118’s load from Tampines West to Tampines West MRT though.
