Bus Service 248 is a Jurong Industrial Service connecting industrial areas around Tuas and Tuas South with transport nodes at Tuas West Road and Tuas Link MRT stations, plying Tuas West Dr, Pioneer Rd, Tuas Ave 20, Tuas Cres, and Tuas South Avenues 5/12/14/9/10 before rejoining Tuas South Ave 5 and returning towards Tuas Bus Terminal.

The route brings about greater connectivity to the Tuas South region, with a majority of bus stops served by this route being new bus stops. Industries around Tuas Crescent and Tuas South (including Tuas Biomedical Park II), and workers living in dormitories around Tuas, stand to benefit from enhanced bus-rail connectivity offered in tandem with the opening of the East West Line‘s Tuas West Extension.

The route plies an express sector along Tuas South Avenue 5 between Tuas Crescent and the junction of Tuas South Avenue 8 for faster connectivity and reduced overcrowding for passengers intending to head to Tuas South. Commuters along the express sector can take Bus Services 182/182M or 247 to MRT stations in Tuas.

Inter-operation with Bus Service 248M

Bus Service 248M is a route variant that plies an extended version of Bus Service 248, looping at Tuas South Way with 1 additional bus stop served, while retaining all of Service 248’s existing stops. When introduced in September 2021, it only operated during peak hours, and Service 248 only operated outside of Service 248M’s operating hours.

The number of trips for Service 248 were reduced in tandem with the increase in the number of Service 248M trips from 17 December 2023.

At this point, considering 248M runs daily and continuously and 248 only runs for three time periods per day, I don’t know why we’re calling the former a supplementary service, it might as well be the main service
