Introduced in 1995 with the opening of Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal, Service 35 is a trunk route serving the Ferry Terminal, and industries at Changi South, Changi East and Airport Logistics Park of Singapore (ALPS) areas as well as Changi Naval Base, with bus connections to Tanah Merah MRT Station and Bedok Town Centre / MRT Station / Bus Interchange. It is also the only regular bus route to serve Changi Coast Road and Tanah Merah Coast Road.

The route also skips two pairs of bus stops between Tanah Merah MRT and Xilin Avenue. Demand for the route is concentrated around the peak hours owing to high demand from industries at Changi South. From Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal, daily ferry services operate to various destinations in Malaysia and Indonesia.

As Service 35 calls at Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal twice in a single trip, it employs a coloured service plate for easier identification. Red plate will indicate buses heading to ALPS, and white plate indicates buses heading towards Tanah Merah and Bedok.

Airport Logistics Park of Singapore (ALPS):

ALPS is a designated Free Trade Zone (FTZ). From 1 September 2024, all visitors entering ALPS have to register themselves via a registration portal prior to entering the area. Upon arrival of the bus at the checkpoint, individuals have to produce a photo identification to the security officer for verification.

Operating Hours

Service 35 operates on weekdays from 6.00am to 7.30pm, and on Saturdays from 6.00am to 3.00pm.

At all other times, route variant Service 35M operates, plying Service 35’s old route between Bedok Int and Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal. Service 35M’s operating hours are weekdays from 7.45pm to 11.15pm, Saturdays from 3.15pm to 11.15pm and on Sundays & Public Holidays from 6.00am to 11.15pm.

BSEP Route extension (2014)

Service 35 was extended to serve ALPS Avenue during selected hours from 15 December 2014, with an express sector along Changi Coast Road. The route extension is classified as the 36th new service under the Bus Service Enhancement Programme (BSEP), as well as the 4th route extension after 119, 11 and 123M.

Prior to the extension of Service 35 to ALPS, the commuting needs of the workers within ALPS were met with a shuttle service during peak hours from/to Tanah Merah MRT Station. Within ALPS, two more bus stops were added by early 2015, in addition to the three stops along ALPS Avenue prior.

Tanah Merah Coast Road extension (2017)

For the construction of Changi Airport Terminal 5, a large section of Changi Coast Road (parallel to Changi Airport’s Runway 02C/20C) was closed. A widened Tanah Merah Coast Road opened to traffic on 22 April 2017 at 1900hrs, linking up with Aviation Park Road via the eastern coastline. Service 35 plies the realigned road twice in a single trip, lengthening each trip by 8 kilometres. Two new pairs of bus stops for Service 35 were also added along Tanah Merah Coast Rd, near Changi Lodge 2 and Changi Naval Base.

I am wondering if it is a good idea to extend this service to terminate at Changi Village instead (if there is still space in the terminal) via ALPS ave -> Changi Coast Road -> Nicoll Drive -> Telok Paku Road -> Changi Village Road while serving ALPS ave in both directions. This will provide bus service to the stretch of Changi Coast Road not currently served by any bus service (for the benefit of Changi beach goers) and connections between ALPS and Changi Village (where they can transfer to bus services in Changi Village)

I was a recent visitor to the new Changi Bay Park and using Bus Service 35

However I noticed that the existing bus stop for service 35 only stop near the car park of Changi Ferry Rd which is quite a distance away. I would like to recommend that a new bus stop be erected along the Tanah Merah Road close to the new Changi Bay Toilet Block so that visitors to this new park need not take a long walk back to the existing bus stop near Changi Ferry Terminal. This is will be certainly be a welcome addition to this new park especially in event of increment weather. A properly paved path should also be erected from near the Changi Bay Park Toilet Block to the proposed new road bus stop along the main road.

More bus stops should also be considered along this route for the benefit of ECP park visitors so that more people can take bus No 35 for recreation activities along this long route.

For your generous consideration please for the sake of park visitors. Just my 1 cent for benefit of Singaporeans!

SBS Transit should consider extending the operating hours of Service 35 to at least till 9 or 10pm on weekdays only instead of 730pm as that is the time when most change in shifts occurs between the ground staffs and security personnels there. It’s also necessary as not every company there provides shuttle buses to ferry workers home

35 is a long loop service with the route passing through a very long road at Tanah Merah twice, so the route is nearly double that of Service 2.
You can confirm this by using Google MyMaps and tracing out both routes, then compare the lengths.
