City Direct Service 655 provides residents of Teban Gardens, Pandan Gardens and West Coast with greater connectivity to the CBD. The service provides a travel alternative for commuters who would otherwise rely on the rail network/feeder buses or alternative trunk services to and from work. The route incorporates an express sector between West Coast Road and Anson Road/Shenton Way via West Coast Highway.
This is the fifth City Direct service to be introduced under the Bus Service Enhancement Programme (BSEP), providing more options for commuters using stretches of the existing rail lines that experience persistently high ridership, while the ongoing rail enhancement measures are being implemented.
If the eves of Christmas, New Year’s Day, and Chinese New Year fall on a weekday, the Evening Peak departures will be brought forward to the afternoon. Revised departure times will be provided by the operator closer to the affected date.

Don’t complain, you guys voted for it =).
The change is bad!!! There are not enough seats now esp for elderly folks and commuters have to stand all the way. They should introduce a double decker service since this route is really popular. Do something about it before it gets too crowded and someone falls!!!
I always take bus service 655 to my office. Before the change in operator, sometime I can still find a seat and is not so crowded. However after SBS took over the operation, the bus is so crowded and I have to stand all the way to my work place, I really hope the change never takes place. Can SBS provides double decker buses for these services during the morning peak hour? I really hope the private operator will take back this service from SBS so that the rides will not be so crowded and squeezed.??????
If you wished the change never took place, then LTA wouldn’t have introduced City Direct services. It was a change. ?
I agree with you. The change is bad.
Private bus capacity is 45-59, whereas a Single Decker bus capacity is only 35-55.
What do you expect? ?
Today is my first onboard 655 with sbs being the new provider. However I am hoping the change never came. Previously I was prepared to pay more as the trip is direct to my office, no more squeezing and seats to rest my leg (plus extended shut eye time). But today I have to bear with the standing throughout, do feel squeezed to some extent. Certainly far from my preferred way to travel at higher cost. Well, its the first day. Probably too early still to comment at this point. Well enough of typing, need to focus on standing proper now as I counted the seconds to my destination.
