City Direct Service 671 provides residents of Sengkang West with greater connectivity to the CBD. The service provides a travel alternative for commuters who relied on the rail network and feeder buses to and from work. The route incorporates an express sector between Fernvale and the CBD via Yio Chu Kang Rd, CTE, Outram Rd and Cantonment Rd.
This is the twenty-first City Direct service to be introduced under the Bus Service Enhancement Programme (BSEP), which provides more options for commuters using stretches of the existing rail lines that experience persistently high ridership, while the ongoing rail enhancement measures are being implemented.
The tender for this route was called for on 15 April 2016. Free rides were given out to commuters on the first day of service, 17 October 2016.
The route was further enhanced under the Bus Connectivity Enhancement Programme (BCEP) from 11 November 2024, with a route extension to Suntec City via Bayfront.
If the eves of Christmas, New Year’s Day, and Chinese New Year fall on a weekday, the Evening Peak departures will be brought forward to the afternoon. Revised departure times will be provided by the operator closer to the affected date.

THE BLOODY BUS DID NOT STOP AT THE FIRST AND SECOND STOP IN CBD EVEN THOUGH I TRIED TO WAVE TO THE DRIVER! WHAT’S WRONG WITH YOU GUYS?
The bus route was awarded based on public tender. There should be adequate check to ensure that operator complies with the Terms & Conditions of the Tender award – which, based on my experience on 25 October 2017, appears to have been breached.
There are supposed to be 2 buses, departing from first stop at 7.35am and 7.50 on weekdays. I was waiting at the 3rd stop from 7.28am and the bus only arrived at 7.55am, with only 2 passengers on it. I was told by a regular that the bus I boarded was the “2nd bus”. But there was no sight of the “1st bus”. It should be investigated (i) whether the operator actually ran 2 buses and (ii) whether both buses (if there were indeed 2 of them running on 25 Oct 2017) actually covered the full designated route and stopped at all designated stops.
I am quite certain that on 25 Oct 2017 the 1st bus did not pass by or stop at the 3rd stop (203A Compassvale Road).
Bus 671 drove past us without stopping. It did not seem to be in full capacity, not to mention that it also took in passengers beyond its seat capacity. This is not the first time I encounter the premium bus without stopping. Goodness, now I am late for work. Can the management do something about this. The service is so unreliable.
Bus 671 did not stop at the bus stop next to Pei Hua Sec Sch and it was the last bus we supposed to board. It was not even full capacity not to mention that I always will attempt to take passengers beyond it’s full seats capacity. Not the first time I encounter the bus move straight ahead without stopping. Goodness, now I am going to be late for work. I hope the management can do something about it. Such unreliable premium bus.
Once again the 671 18h35 bus did not arrive. Last week the 7h50 was 10 minutes late one morning and simply did not stop at the first stop (not the first time as he tries to catch up time). This service is appalling, despite my regular feedback. What are you doing about it?
