Short Trip Service 79A was a trunk service operating from Boon Lay Bus Interchange and ends at Jurong Town Hall Rd (Jurong East Lib). The Short-Trip Service offered unidirectional trips from Boon Lay to Jurong East via the Jurong Industrial Estate during the late night hours (after the last bus of Service 79 has departed), without having to operate full-distance trips of Service 79.
To facilitate upgrading works at Boon Lay Int, Service 79 was amended to start from Jurong Town Hall Int and loop at Boon Lay Int from 26 May 2024. As a result, Service 79A was withdrawn, with terminating trip 79T introduced on the same day for late night trips from Jurong Town Hall Int that terminate at Boon Lay Int.

- 2020 (06 Dec): Amended to start at Boon Lay Int and terminate at Jurong Town Hall Rd (Jurong East Lib) as part of the relocation of Jurong East Int
