Short Trip Service 973A is a trunk service operating from Bukit Panjang Bus Interchange and ends at Pending Road (Bef Pending Stn). The Short-Trip Service operates daily and connects the transport node of Bukit Panjang to residential areas around Bukit Panjang Road and Pending after the last bus of Service 973 has departed, offering late-night bus connections within Bukit Panjang without having to operate full-distance trips via Hillview and Hume.

Commencing service on 13 January 2019, Service 973A was introduced as train services on the Bukit Panjang LRT end earlier from 13 January 2019 to allow for accelerated rail renewal work.

On the eves of public holidays and during major events like the Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix, operating hours will be extended to align with the extended train service hours. SMRT Buses will provide the exact last bus timings as these dates approach.
