Short Trip Service 973A is a trunk service operating from Bukit Panjang Bus Interchange and ends at Pending Road (Bef Pending Stn). The Short-Trip Service operates daily and connects the transport node of Bukit Panjang to residential areas around Bukit Panjang Road and Pending after the last bus of Service 973 has departed, offering late-night bus connections within Bukit Panjang without having to operate full-distance trips to Hillview.

Commencing service on 13 January 2019, Service 973A was introduced as train services on the Bukit Panjang LRT end earlier from 13 January 2019 to allow for accelerated rail renewal work. It is wheelchair-accessible at launch.
