[Defunct] SBS Transit Chinatown Direct Bus CT18

Chinatown Direct CT18 was a Chinatown Direct service operated by SBS Transit, running between Bedok North Avenue 3 and Kampong Bahru Bus Terminal, via Bedok Reservoir and Chinatown. It was one of two Chinatown Direct services in operation before its withdrawal in June 2022.

Service CT18 will be discontinued from 30 June 2022. The service had been suspended since 15 April 2020 amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Chinatown Direct CT18 was introduced in Jan 2005 along with CT8 and CT28, connecting residential estates in Bedok and Bedok Reservoir with the City areas of Chinatown and Outram Park. Incorporating an express sector along the PIE and CTE, the route offers fast and direct connection for commuters who would otherwise have to rely on feeder buses and transfers between MRT lines to reach Chinatown prior to the opening of Downtown Line Stage 3.

Originally using the purple-background destination signs for easy distinction, they have been phased out in favour of electronic route displays on newer buses.

Despite starting and ending at Bedok North Ave 3, buses running on CT18 used Bedok Bus Interchange as a layover point.

During the Chinese New Year festive period, operating hours will be adjusted.

The service was suspended from 15 April 2020 due to the COVID-19 situation in Singapore. It continued to remain suspended until its discontinuation on 30 June 2022. The last day of operations was on 14 April 2020.

• 2006: Skips a pair of abolished bus stops outside and opposite Bedok Green Sec Sch along Bedok North Ave 3
• 2014 (03 Dec): Designated wheelchair-accessible bus route (WAB)
• 2018 (10 Mar): Amended to Kampong Bahru Ter
• 2020 (15 Apr – 01 Jun): Temporarily suspended due to Singapore COVID-19 Circuit Breaker Measures.
