Art in Transit: “Planting Shadows” by Vertical Submarine

This work is a further exploration of the groups’ interest in botany, and linking it to visual language and history. Shadows of tropical plants are used as furtive images to echo the presence and absence of nature in our urban environment.

These shadows cast on the walls of the station are adapted from botanical drawings produced during the colonial era to signify and trace the past to the present landmark of Gardens by the Bay where we see the cultivation of nature.

Civil Defence shelter

Gardens by the Bay station is one of six stations along the Thomson-East Coast Line (Thomson stretch) designated as Civil Defence (CD) shelters, which will be activated in times of national emergency. Apart from reinforced construction, the stations are designed and equipped with facilities to ensure the shelter environment is tolerable for all shelterees during shelter occupation. These facilities include protective blast doors, decontamination facilities, ventilation systems, power and water supply systems and a dry toilet system.

The other CD shelters are Woodlands, Lentor, Mayflower, Bright Hill and Mount Pleasant stations.

Exit 3 of Gardens by the Bay Station is still undeveloped. SMRT should have closed Gardens by the Bay Station Exit 3 because Exit 3 is undeveloped.

With this MRT station this will be the nearest MRT station to Gardens by the Bay. Even bus service 400 will have no use by the time this station opens.

Yes, I will suspect that Bus 400 will be withdrawn by 13 November.

Ah yes thats right, at first we thought that Service 400 will have no use, but wow now they end up amending Bus 400 to (TE19) Shenton Way Station, and really? thats what I said in the (TE19) Shenton Way MRT Station thoughts.

I thought both platforms will be used as turnarounds? Cause between Marina South and Gardens By The Bay, there is a cripple siding track.

I found an exit for Gardens By the Bay station. It is just outside Marina Barrage, towards Gardens by the Bay. Nearby, you will see it.
