Two Volvo B10BLE buses formerly operated by SBS Transit have been slated for preservation.
SBS2988M was preserved at St. Andrew’s Autism Centre, located at 1 Elliot Road. The bus was first spotted in February 2020.
SBS2989K was also preserved at Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH), at the loading bay beside Irrawaddy Road. The bus was moved to the location in May 2021.
The Volvo B10BLE bus was registered on 19 April 2002 as SBS2988M (Chassis Number YV3R4E3122A008449), and it was Singapore’s first Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) powered public bus. The bus was de-registered on 18 April 2019 after reaching its statutory lifespan of 17 years.
After de-registration, the bus was stored at Braddell Bus Park in the later half of 2019.
In February 2020, the bus was spotted at St. Andrew’s Autism Centre, a non-profit organisation for the education, training and care of persons with autism and their families.
The Autism Centre premises at East Coast comprises St. Andrew’s Autism School, St. Andrew’s Adult Autism Services, St. Andrew’s Mission Hospital Clinic (Elliot Road) and Chapel of Christ Our Hope. The church within the compound hosts services on Sunday mornings.
Fare collection equipment was removed from the preserved bus.
In December 2019, it was announced that Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH) would soon be getting a decommissioned single-deck SBS Transit bus, slated to be part of a mobility circuit at the future Integrated Care Hub next to the hospital. Online sources have indicated that SBS2989K might be the decommissioned bus slated for use at Tan Tock Seng Hospital.
The Volvo B10BLE bus was registered on 18 July 2002 as SBS2989K (Chassis Number YV3R4E3102A008496). The bus was de-registered on 17 July 2019 after reaching its statutory lifespan of 17 years.
In May 2021, the bus was spotted at Tan Tong Seng Hospital, featuring a special livery as a TTSH Rehab Bus.
