[Cancelled] Early Closure of North South & East West Line (May & June 2020)

Early Closures along the North South Line (NSL) between Choa Chu Kang and Jurong East as well as along the East West Line (EWL) between Buona Vista and Boon Lay was originally announced to take place on selected Fridays & Saturdays in May & June 2020 to allow for additional engineering hours for maintenance, power supply renewal works, installation of railway noise barriers and replacement of track circuits where feasible.

However, due to the Singapore COVID-19 Circuit Breaker Measures, all planned Early Closures 15 May 2020 to 27 June 2020 were cancelled.

The last train timings for the EWL & NSL were brought forward, as part of network-ride train service reductions implemented by the Land Transport Authority during the Circuit Breaker period.

Affected MRT Stations

As a result, train services on the:

• East West Line between EW21CC22 Buona Vista – EW27 Boon Lay and
• North South Line between NS1EW24 Jurong East – NS4BP1 Choa Chu Kang

will be unavailable during the periods of closure. In addition, a shuttle train service will operate at a frequency of 12 minutes between EW21CC22 Buona Vista – EW19 Queenstown.

Train services between the remaining sections of the EWL & NSL (Pasir Ris—Queenstown, Boon Lay—Tuas Link, Tanah Merah—Changi Airport & Choa Chu Kang—Marina South Pier) will not be affected.

Affected Hours & Dates

On selected Fridays & Saturdays during Early Closure, last trains will depart at around 11:00 pm along the affected stretch.

• 5 & 6 June 2020 (Fri & Sat) – Cancelled
• 12 & 13 June 2020 (Fri & Sat) – Cancelled

• 26 & 27 June 2020 (Fri & Sat) – Cancelled

Last Train Timings at Affected Stations

During Early Closure on affected days;

Shuttle Bus Services

Shuttle Bus Services will be provided throughout the duration of the early closures. Fares for the Shuttle Bus Services are equivalent to the distance travelled by train.

Extended Bus Operating Hours

On days of Early Closure, the last buses for residential bus services will be extended to allow commuters to connect from the Shuttle Bus Services.

As the Early Closures for May & June have been cancelled, the affected bus services will not be extended.
