On 28 June 1987, the terminal was moved further south to a new facility at the end of Palmer Road. Shenton Way Bus Terminal spanned 14,000 square metres and was built partially underneath the East Coast Parkway (ECP) viaduct, freeing up valuable space in the CBD. Built at a cost of S$2.31 million, it contained a canteen, a control office and a rest area for bus crew.
The relocated Shenton Way Bus Terminal opened on 26 April 2010 at a new facility constructed at the junction of Palmer Road, Shenton Way and Keppel Road. The old terminal was demolished to make way for construction of the Marina Coastal Expressway (MCE), which involved realigning works to the viaduct.
