Art in Transit: “Interlude For Lentor” by Tan Guo-Liang

The world ‘Lentor’ is derive from the Malay word “Lentur” which means lithe, flexible, thin, graceful.

‘Interlude for Lentor’ takes its inspiration from the area around the station, in particular, Teachers’ Estate where the roads are named after famous poets and philosophers. Inspired by the meaning and the location, the artist created a visual score that resembles musical notations and calligraphic scripts.

Unfolding over one of the largest walls in the station via a continuous sequence of varying shapes, the artist used the imagery of overlapping fibres of fabric to layer the ideas of composition, texture and rhythm. Commuters are invited to read the score-script as they traverse the station, to enjoy an interlude in their busy day.

I guess it will have Exit 6 which will be an underground exit to connect with the upcoming Mixed-Use Development, Lentor Modern.

I am sure this station will benefit from the surrounding housing estates near to the station, as well as the residents of Teachers’ Estate.
