Service 104 connects residents in Northshore, Sumang, Buangkok, Serangoon and Bidadari to nearby transport nodes such as Punggol Coast, Buangkok, Serangoon and Woodleigh MRT Stations along the North-East Line. It is introduced under the LTA’s Bus Connectivity Enhancement Programme (BCEP).

The service is launched as an enhancement and extension of Service 43M, which was withdrawn on 26 October 2025. Service 43M plied between Punggol and Serangoon Central (Loop).

Key differences from Service 43M include:

  • Northern extension to Punggol Coast Int, via Punggol Way & Northshore Drive
  • Amendment to serve Sumang Walk / Sumang Lane
  • Amendment to ply the newly extended Buangkok Drive
  • Southern extension to Woodleigh Int, via Serangoon Avenue 1 & Bidadari Park Drive

Passengers should note that this service skips Bus Stop 65711 (Blk 446B) along New Punggol Road; the bus stop outside HDB Punggol Point Cove in the direction of Punggol Coast.

Plans

On 24 June 2025, Member of Parliament for Punggol GRC Ms Sun Xueling revealed in a social media post that a new trunk bus service 104 between Punggol Coast & Woodleigh is planned to commence in the coming months.

Key catchment areas for Service 104 in the Punggol area were shared, such as the Sumang / Matilda and Northshore areas. Service 104 would bring direct connections for Punggol residents to Sengkang, Buangkok, Serangoon, and Woodleigh.

On 2 Oct 2025, Ms Sun Xueling posted on social media regarding the launch of Service 104 from 26 Oct 2025. In the service poster from the operator website (obtained from the QR code in the poster), Service 104 was indicated to serve a new bus stop (65669 – Northshore Pr Sch) along Northshore Drive towards Woodleigh Int in the future.

However, the updated poster released by the Land Transport Authority on 12 October 2025 showed that Service 104 will serve bus stop 65669 – Northshore Pr Sch at launch.

Can we extend 146 beyond Kovan Hub to alleviate the loss of 43M and 156 for Sengkang East Rd? My idea is after Hougang Ave 1, it should turn to ply Kovan Hub first then Upp Serangoon Rd for Kovan MRT, then Hougang Ave 2, Yio Chu Kang Rd, Buangkok Green, Sengkang East Rd, Sengkang East Way for Sengkang MRT, Punggol Rd, Buangkok Dr, Sengkang Ctrl to Buangkok ITH

Its most likely when 146 gets extended to Kovan, it goes by Hougang Ave 3 and Hougang St 13 (as a form of BCEP that links Hougang St 13 to its first bus route, Kovan and Bartley MRT.)

So if we were to extend 146 onwards, 146 will be too long and it may cause unreliability to the main sections it will serve in the near future.

I honestly feel that 43M should not have been discontinued, if Punggol West residents really wanted a service heading to Punggol Coast, a feeder named 383 could have been introduced to serve Punggol Point, Sumang Walk, Northshore, Sumang Link, Matilda, Punggol Field, Punggol East and Punggol Central and then loop back, this could eventually link more people to Punggol Coast within Punggol considering many people have been asking for a link to do so, introducing and renumbering 104 just because it serves new interchanges and is slightly rerouted is completely non-logical?

Yes maybe it serves new residents but for many who have relied on 43M and now having it snatched away incurs them with longer travel times and push them to already overcrowded bus services like 43, 43M should have been retained, in this form it is literally wasting space in Punggol Coast ITH, many who live nearby Punggol Coast ITH only take this as a feeder since it is the only plausible bus route for them to take it to Punggol Coast, or to link them somewhere else. I believe if they really wanted to make 43M to terminate in Woodleigh, yes they can rename it to 104 but retain the exact same sector, not to change it to multiple areas that makes residents who used to rely on 43M to lose it and with that serve new areas that do not make original 43M route users lose their route. If you get what I mean.

The whole 104 is basically “OH for BCEP we want to promote the 2 new interchanges! lets link northshore matilda and south fernvale to serangoon and Bidadari as well! What do we do? We “Upgrade” 43M! thats a good way to attract attention that we buffed the service!”

End result: “Buangkok Green residents are now in despair since now 43 gets overwhelmed and people cant board it. 101 is too long, 109 probably is also packed full of passengers from Changi Village, Pasir Ris and TPE interchangers meaning the east side of buangkok green also cant board the bus to serangoon. 156 cant even serve Serangoon MRT and its infrequent and single deckers only dispel crowds for yck road which is less than Serangoon MRT. West side of Buangkok Green technically wasnt affected because of 70 (70B and 70M included), 103 and 104 but how many people from the west side of Buangkok green actually use that bus stop?)

Just their mps way of wayang style personality when they themselves don’t take public transport. “You know what let’s renumber bus 43m to 104 and extend the route” but never consider fully about those people along the buangkok green

I’m not concerned about heading towards Serangoon, but towards Buangkok MRT which is like 5 stops away. I thought we were finally getting some relief by connecting Fernvale residents to Buangkok but wasted for Block 403-406 residents since we have to walk all the way to block 409 if you just look at Google map how far we have to walk. If only they had just built a bus stop but instead they decided to do plant trees… But hais

Bus 104 is such a potential yet wasted and disappointing bus service, especially for Fern Spring residents in Fernvale Lane. Once it turns right to Buangkok Drive, there could potentially be a new bus stop serving residents of block 403-406, before heading towards block 409 bus stop. I don’t understand how there isn’t a bus stop in that particular area that we have to walk about 7-8 mins to block 409 bus stop, similar walking distance to Fernvale LRT station. Whoever planned the route must go for an eye check-up because honestly, this is ridiculous. For the past 20 years, bus 163 has been the only bus service that’s been serving Fernvale Lane, and there is only 3 feeder buses in Sengkang. I think it’s time that LTA should come up with a strategic plan for a 4th one in Fernvale South. At least, this could be a relieve and would save up a lot of time. Thank you!

Absolutely! I mean we’re talking 20 YEARS man!! The demand in Fernvale is crazily high now and that’s the only bus that takes you to NCS HUB, Apple Singapore and ST Electronics etc.

If it’s heading towards Serangoon, Isn’t bus stop 67051 (Opp Seletar Hills Est) better for Blk 403-406?

43 should have full double decker and high frequency during peak hours since 43M is discontinued or simply introduce a feeder from Buangkok via part of 43 routes to back it up.

The cancellation of 43M seems to stir quite a noise on Reddit. I believe it is high time for us to start a petition and write to the MPs. We should also contact news agencies such as Mothership or Stomp to also alert people more on this matter.
