Bus Service 160 is a cross-border route connecting Jurong East, Bukit Panjang and Kranji MRT to JB Sentral via the Causeway. The route plies long stretches of Bukit Batok Road and Woodlands Road, providing fast connections between the residential towns of Jurong East, Bukit Panjang and Woodlands Centre.
Due to varying traffic conditions at the Causeway, travel times and waiting times may increase significantly when jams occur.
This service operates on a Friday schedule if the Eve of Public Holiday falls on a Weekday.
After 23:00 to 00:00 daily, Service 160 buses departing Jurong Town Hall Interchange will terminate at:
- JB Sentral Bus Terminal along Jln Jim Quee on Weekdays (Mon – Thu)
- Johor Bahru Checkpoint on all other days, including public holidays.
Omission of JB Sentral
Bus Service 160 will loop at Johor Bahru Checkpoint and omit JB Sentral Bus Terminal during these periods:
- Weekdays (Mon – Fri) before 8am
- Fridays / Eve of Public Holidays if it falls on a Weekday after 5pm
- Saturdays
- Sundays / Singapore Public Holidays
Cross-Border Procedures
At each checkpoint, passengers have to alight and clear immigration before boarding the bus again. When different bus services are used when arriving at/departing from a checkpoint, this will constitute a transfer for card paying passengers. If the same bus service is used, the journey is resumed. Cash-paying passengers should retain their tickets as proof of payment, and produce them when re-boarding buses at checkpoints.
At Woodlands Checkpoint towards Johor Bahru, a single queue is formed for Bus Services 160/170/170X/950. Passengers will be directed to board whichever bus comes first. This arrangement has been in place since 20 May 2022.
At JB CIQ (Johor Bahru Checkpoint) towards Singapore, a single queue is formed for Bus Services 160/170/170X. Passengers will be directed to board whichever bus comes first.

Route Limitations
Buses deployed on cross-border routes must be registered with the Agensi Pengangkutan Awam Darat (APAD), also known as the Land Public Transport Agency (Malaysia).
In accordance with Malaysian regulations, buses must carry relevant documents, be fitted with a third brake light at the rear, and attached with Malaysian stickers dictating the legal speed limit.
Currently, several SBS Transit Mercedes-Benz Citaro & MAN A22 buses are registered for cross-border operations.
Buses operating on Service 160A or the Service 160 special departures from Bukit Batok Road to Jurong East do not need to be APAD-Registered as they do not cross the border into Malaysia.

Back to Cross Border Services
Honestly, I wished that Tower Transit could operate this bus service instead
Can but will take a long time to transfer over like 1+ years. From the bus models to the SPAD/APAD sticker and communication between tts, malaysia ministry, lta & sbs. Honestly even with the fleet switching to MAN A22 Euro V & VI, i highly doubt another operator will snatch this up just like smrt 950 as well
160/170/170X fleet will be majority Citaro and minority Euro 5 B3 A22 & Euro 6 A22.
Tbh Only 950 should use the MAN A22 E5 while 160 & 170 can use MAN A22 E6 & Citaros, this is a good way to use all those storage buses rotting away. If some were pulled from other services, can use the E4 & E5 KUBS that are from 160 & 170 that werent retired. I am pretty sure the reason why Euro V KUBS werent use is probably due to the fact they were procured 1-2 years after the E4s, their lifespan expiry aint far off
As Majority of Ulu Pandan’s E4 KUBS are being retired, services 160/170 are not spared as most from these were retired and laid up. Serveal SG Plated Citaros are being deployed without the SPAD registration. Wonder what bus model will be the replacement when cross border resumes.
Candidates:
Mercedes Benz 0530 Citaro(Has to be Batch 3 as they are still younger than B1 & B2)
MAN A22 E5
MAN A22 E6(Most prefered as they are the youngest diesel SD Bus and 2 Wheelchair bays like Scania K230UB E4)
Mercedes Benz are now deployed regularly.
Can Mercedes-Benz buses be SPAD-registered?
Service 170 have Mercedes Benz. Problem is that these cross border services (160,170,950) need to deploy double deckers to cater extremely high demand during Friday, sat, sun and public holidays
SBS can deploy these buses ONLY IN SINGAPORE.
