Short Trip Service 43A caters to the high residential demand along Service 43’s route from Punggol to Serangoon MRT, benefitting residents along Buangkok Green and Yio Chu Kang Road headed to Serangoon MRT Station. It is introduced under the LTA’s Bus Connectivity Enhancement Programme (BCEP).
Previously, this sector was served by Supplementary Bus Service 43M, which was withdrawn in October 2025 alongside the introduction of Bus Service 104.

Service 43A previously ran from Buangkok Green (Blk 565) to Serangoon Ctrl (Serangoon Stn) during morning peak hours. The service operated between July 2012 and November 2014.

It was a huge mistake amending 43M away from Buangkok Green (turning into 104), where a whole bulk of 43’s demand towards Serangoon comes from. And evidently LTA finally realised they fucked up when the complaints started to pile up
I wonder why this version of 43A doesn’t start from Buangkok like last time…

this aint new. it existed way before 43M was ever a thing and was withdrawn because of it. now it came back with 43M withdrawn

Buangkok Green (including me) people must be happy now with this service since 104 dosen’t serve the IMH area. Kind of expected this to come in as the main service is often packed during peak hours even with more buses add in. Hopefully the return version (from Serangoon to Punggol, especially evening peak) will also introduce soon.
Reverse direction is implemented the same time as 43A, saw it in the minister’s post about 43 improvements. Because they run all the way to the interchange they’ll just downroute as 43 from Serangoon Central
