Bus Service 456 provides a faster connection for commuters travelling between Novena MRT and housing estates in Whampoa & Jalan Tenteram. This limited-stop service, which operates only during weekday morning and evening peak hours, is a quicker alternative to Bus Service 21.
The service plies express between Whampoa estate and Novena MRT in both directions—from Kim Keat Rd to Thomson Rd (via Balestier Rd), and from Thomson Rd to Balestier Rd (via Moulmein Rd). At Novena, Service 456 calls at Thomson Rd (Novena Stn) only, the bus stop near Novena Stn Exit B.
Service 456 serves Jalan Bahagia & Jalan Tenteram in both directions. Commuters should check the bus destination before boarding.

456 demand has been relatively high. And speaking about transport in Whampoa, LTA really should consider a direct bus connection to and fro Punggol and Whampoa. We Dun just rely only on the NEL, bus alternative would be good, and if possible, can connect to serve Woodlands residents too. Right now have to walk to Opp Blk 195 to take 966, it is inconvenient for elderly, at least introduce new service from Whampoa, passing through Woodlands then to Punggol. There is one more empty berth at St Michael Ter. Reserve it for this new bus service. Anyone can write in these to LTA? Hope they will have a better reply this time round.
Should make this a regular bus service that runs throughout the normal operating hours. There is increasing demand lately. Seats are usually filled. This is despite commuters not being aware of this service as Google Maps still recognises this bus as taking 20+ minutes when it really only takes 8 minutes towards Novena MRT. Hence, many dissuaded from taking this bus. Perhaps LTA can do something to alert Google about the actual travel time of this bus journey.
Should also serve bef blk 104
Did someone mention bus service 456? I have been summoned.
