The surrounding residential estates and MRT station takes their name from Clementi Road, which also marks the new town’s eastern boundary and named after Sir Cecil Clementi Smith, Governor of the Straits Settlements from 1887 to 1893.
Clementi station is a transport node for residents of Clementi New Town, serving adjacent shopping malls (The Clementi Mall and Cityvibe), community amenities (Clementi Sports Hall, Clementi Polyclinic, etc.), along with schools and housing developments in the Town Centre area. Bus services are offered from Clementi Bus Interchange, which connect to other parts of the estate.
By 2032, Clementi station will be an interchange station with the Cross Island Line (CRL) Phase 2. The station code would then be EW23CR17.

Future Developments
—
Will like to suggest that there should be a drop off point at the Clementi exit going to the East. Will probably help to reduce congestion too. Tks.
