Lower Morning Pre-Peak Rail Fares Islandwide + Cessation of Free Pre-Peak Travel and Off-Peak Pass Trials

Lower morning pre-peak card fares across the entire rail network will be introduced on 29 December 2017 (Friday). Discounts of up to 50 cents will be given to commuters who tap in at any MRT or LRT station before 7.45am.

This is in line with the Public Transport Council’s recommendation to streamline existing schemes that encourage off-peak travel. The last day of Free Pre-Peak Travel (FPPT) and Off-Peak Pass (OPP) trials will cease after 28 December 2017 (Thursday).

Until 28 Dec 2017 From 29 Dec 2017 onwards
  • Free pre-peak travel when exiting from 18 designated MRT stations* in the City area before 7:45am on weekdays
  • 50 cent discount off train fare when exiting at any of the 18 stations* between 7.45am and 8.00am on weekdays
  • Entry station cannot be among the 18 designated stations*
  • Off-Peak Pass (OPP) allowing unlimited travel on basic (trunk and feeder) bus and rail services throughout the day, EXCEPT 6:30am to 9:00am and 5:00pm to 7:30pm on Weekdays. Priced at $85 for one month.
  • 50 cent discount off train fare when tapping into any MRT/LRT station before 7:45am, regardless of entry and exit station.
  • Off-Peak Pass (OPP) no longer offered

*The designated stations are Bayfront, Bras Basah, Bugis, Chinatown, City Hall, Clarke Quay, Dhoby Ghaut, Downtown, Esplanade, Lavender, Marina Bay, Orchard, Outram Park, Promenade, Raffles Place, Somerset, Tanjong Pagar and Telok Ayer.
