Affordable Bus-pooling to work and home: ShareTransport

  • Extensive price revision of all monthly ShareTransport active routes
  • The rise of alternative transportation
  • Encourages a healthy work-life balance by getting on work and off work

Singapore, 1st Feb 2018 – ShareTransport, a subsidiary of Commute Solutions Group, officially launched its mobile application on 25th July 2016. With the latest upgrade of the ShareTransport App, consumers now have more options to travel on a monthly season pass and a daily pass to work.

Singapore’s privatized transport landscape now has increased demand; competition for smarter alternative modes of transport is on the rise. Following the popularity of ride-sharing services, it has now been extended to buses; the next phase of evolution we hope to see is how buses can be optimized into the ride-sharing eco-system.

Given this increasing demand for bus-pooling in Singapore, changing behavioural trends of commuters in Singapore now require real-time data access. There is also an increasing need for flexible arrangements of transport that allows customers to reschedule rides to fulfil work urgency and last minute e.g. meetings, schedule changes.

The upgraded version released earlier in Jan 2018 now enables user to now book a daily shuttle or a monthly basis shuttle, together with the re-scheduling of daily bus rides with thorough experimentation conducted last quarter in 2017. “Commuting on my private bus to work is now in my lifestyle. I can plan my time better to take care of my kids.” Ms Tan – Commuter of WS2 whom has bought more than a year worth of monthly passes.

To further encourage more users to join in the bus pooling community of taking an alternative choice of transport to work, ShareTransport has rolled out an initiative to reduce all monthly pass prices. It gives all commuters whom are on a monthly season pass to enjoy more savings on their individual transport expenses within a month. A monthly pass previously costs a user from $110 – 120. With the revised monthly bus pass price, a commuter can expect a monthly pass from as low as $90 – $99.

“Securing your transport to work ensures more savings to avoid taxi fare surge as well as ensuring a good head start of the day to meet any individual’s KPI at work and enables an individual to gain a few more minutes with their loved ones in the morning with a good breakfast. – Pang Kok Leong – MD Commute Solutions Group ”

Here is what a commuter of ShareTransport will spend on an average day on transport after the price reduction on a monthly pass

Case Study

Fare Comparison: Woodlands Ave 6 – AXA Tower, Shenton Way

Taxi ShareTransport Ride Sharing
$22.50 – $28.50
(Excl Peak Surcharge)
$3.90 – $4/day on a
Monthly pass
$25 – $30 (excl surge)

A user will also be charged with more waiting time when he/she encounters weather conditions which may slow down travelling time.

With contrast to public transport or private bus services, he/she may not be guaranteed a seat. With as little as $4/day, without worrying a bad weather day, a user stand to get a surge-free, direct, door to door with guaranteed seating shuttle ride to work during the morning & evening peak hour.

Aimed to be more affordable than taxis and more comfortable and less hassle than public transport, a typical bus pool allows most commuters to save up to 7 hours of commuting time per week, whilst enjoying a door-to-door service that eliminates the headaches of multiple transfers ranging from feeder buses, LRTs and Train. It guarantees any users who book the service a reserved seat throughout the journey.

Primarily targeted at PMEs (Professionals, Managers and Executives), other commuters with a regular travel schedule would also benefit from this app. The app can be downloaded free from the Apple App store for iPhone and iPad users, as well as Google Playstore for Android users.
