Approach

The Land Transport Authority adopts a phased approach for the deployment of Autonomous Shuttle Services.

All shuttles will be monitored in real time, with performance data collected and analysed to ensure safe and reliable operations throughout the trial phase and commercial service.

  • Testing & Preparatory phase
    > Autonomous Shuttles to pass a closed-circuit test at the Centre of Excellence for Testing and Research of Autonomous Vehicles – NTU (CETRAN)
    > Conduct on-road preparatory activities without passengers, with a safety operator on board at all times
Activities include detailed route mapping, sensor calibration, validation of artificial intelligence models, and allowing safety operators to familiarise themselves with the routes and localised traffic conditions.
  • Trial phase with community rides
    > Community to be invited to experience the autonomous shuttle services with a safety operator on board for free
Residents to experience the technology and familiarise themselves with the autonomous shuttle services
    > Feedback gathering by LTA & operator; service operations adjustment if required
  • Commercial Passenger Service
    > Commencement of full passenger service, and all members of the public can take a ride.
    > Details of the fares will be shared closer to the commencement of passenger service.
    > Safety operators will continue to be on board at all times.

Progress
11 Dec 2025 ComfortDelGro mentioned that their autonomous vehicles have completed CETRAN Milestone One batch assessment. This means that they are now able to perform trials on public roads.
12 Jan 2026 Route 1 between Punggol West & East started the community rides trial
1 Apr 2026 Commencement of public rides for Route 1 & 3
Route 3 Mini route launched for public rides
7 Apr 2026 Route 2 started the community rides trial
