Upgrading works for 6 bus interchanges were announced by the Land Transport Authority (LTA) on 18 August 2026. The six bus interchanges are Bishan, Bukit Batok, Bukit Merah, Eunos, Punggol and Tampines. This is the second batch of bus interchanges to undergo upgrades in recent years.
Key works include:
- Enhancements to or provision of inclusive facilities, such as priority queue zones, additional seating, baby care/family washrooms, wheelchair-accessible toilets, commuter care rooms, tactile guided paths and Braille signs on handrails;
- Replacement and upgrading of systems, such as air-conditioning and lighting; and
- Refurbishment of staff facilities, such as passenger service offices and staff lounges.
Upgrading works for the previous batch of 7 bus interchanges, announced in August 2024 — Ang Mo Kio, Bedok, Boon Lay, Clementi, Sengkang, Serangoon and Toa Payoh, under Contract DE189 — are currently underway and are expected to be completed in 2027.
Tender Notice
LTA published the tender on government procurement site GeBIZ for the upgrading works later on 19 Aug 2026, under Contract BD206 – Enhancement to Bus Infrastructure.
The titles of the tender documents publicly listed on GeBIZ indicate two packages, identified as BD206(A) and BD206(B). The listing also identifies optional works for two additional bus interchanges.

Punggol Bus Interchange
Sembawang Bus Interchange (Option) - Package B:
Bukit Merah Bus Interchange
Tampines Bus Interchange
HarbourFront Bus Interchange (Option)
Note: Bishan Bus Interchange is not identified in the titles of the tender drawing documents listed on GeBIZ, so its package could not be determined from the tender notice.
wonder Tampines bus interchange upgrade with fully Aircon or still open air?
I feel that all forthcoming upgrading bus interchange should have air-condition and more toilet facilities and also all the bus timing panel .
eunos interchange ITH don’t think so , even bus service route have to go to changi rd, jalan turi Eunos rd 2 and to eunos interchange, if that serve extend to the area empty land that serve more service route directions regarding the interchange should rebuild also the area bus service park area have to re-leveing
Actually, they missed several chances to build replacement ITH at either Paya Lebar or Kembangan, and within Eunos itself.
Eunos got 9 bus routes. The Eunos ITH need to be same scale as Joo Koon ITH which also has about 9 bus routes. Joo Koon ITH use approximately 20362m2 of land.
Eunos actually can: temporarily make it no boarding at bus interchange (most of the bus interchange demolish). Only retain original bus park and the alighting area. It’s actually possible to have approximately 22677m2 of land at the junction of Eunos Road 2 and Sims Avenue.
In other words, the Eunos ITH can also have the driveway at Eunos Road 2 and retain all the current routings of Eunos Bus Interchange.
During the transition, which will be about 4 years, it will be just like Bukit Panjang that time. Boarding will be at the bus stop outside along Sims Avenue, which some people have been doing all these while.
Only 76 and 154 need to temporarily reroute to pick up passengers at the bus stop outside along Sims Avenue (which just shows actually most people don’t take Eunos bus routes at the bus interchange but instead at the bus stop outside).
So actually, really can use above method to create the Eunos ITH.
Maybe that’s why got additional options (do other bus interchanges). Cuz, maybe eventually Eunos and Bishan won’t do renovation, so the renovation budget can go to Harbourfront and Sembawang instead.
The above may potentially happen.
I feel like Eunos has been superseded as the main hub in the area by Paya Lebar, which now feels very much like a town centre of its own. Eunos Interchange should shift to the plot bounded by Eunos Avenue 7, Eunos Road 8, Eunos Avenue 5 and Eunos Road 6, behind Paya Lebar Station. This area is roughly 50,000 m^2, which is ample room for a new interchange. This would also serve the surrounding areas and new housing much better than the current Eunos Interchange. Since it is a completely new site, there will also be no need for a temporary interchange nearby. The current Eunos routes except 76, 150 and 154 can be routed via Eunos Rd 2 -> Eunos Avenue 5, 76/154 can be sent directly from Paya Lebar Road, and 150 can run via Eunos Crescent -> Eunos Avenue 5.
Sembawang need expansion seriously, The walkway with the patch of grass can be added with at least 10 parking lots and the PSC can be relocated further to add more berth. Can introduce one new feeder and one trunk to Airport can relieve 858 loadings.
Finally bukit merah int quite dirty
With the money spent on renovating these bus interchanges, these bus interchange won’t have temporary facility before ITH already.
Which means to say, the ITH for these bus interchanges will be at new location.
So far, got news about Bishan, Bukit Merah and Tampines getting ITH. Whereas for the other 3 (Bukit Batok, Eunos, Punggol), so far no news, but even if have ITH, the new location of the ITHs should be obvious (cuz nearby those MRT stations only got one section is presently empty land or open-air car park).
Likewise for Sembawang and Harbourfront, if those additional options proceed with renovation.
Looks like these are early indication of those bus interchanges going to be upgraded into ITH, and with this renovation, it will be straightaway relocate to ITH at new location with no temporary facility in between.
If HarbourFront bus interchange is to be upgraded to ITH, hopefully it will occupy the site of HarbourFront Centre!
Isn’t it too far from the MRT? And that side the traffic with Grab Gojek private cars etc make it worse..
You might be mistaken with HarbourFront Ferry Terminal, I was choosing the site of HarbourFront Centre because it’s undergoing redevelopment and also located near MRT.
The current interchange location isn’t ideal nor convenient either, having to cross the road and negotiate with the terrain, and it too being surrounded by forests
If the future HarbourFront Centre has provisions for a future bus interchange, why not build some underground linkways to connect it and the station. If you look at a map, it’s actually not that far compared to going from the station to the current bus interchange, and Exit B is already there
You might be mistaken with the current Singapore Cruise Centre, I was choosing the site of HarbourFront Centre because it’s undergoing redevelopment and also located near the MRT exit B. But anyway, let’s just see where they will place the ITH.
I don’t think HBF need ITH.. The forest behind can be cleared for more spacious facilities.
I think that Punggol will likely have an ITH opposite the current interchange, but next to waterway point. For Sembawang is an empty plot of land next to the current interchange as per URA Master plan map.
Since when there is news about Bukit Merah getting ITH? If you’re talking about Tiong Bahru ITH, its meant to replace Kampong Bahru Terminal supposedly. Bukit Merah will likely get its own ITH but not probably until Seletar Line is ready in the 2040s.
