Updated Express Feeder Services

Express Feeder bus services, formerly denoted with a suffix X to their parent service, would now be numbered from 451 onwards to better distinguish them from existing services, according to LTA.

These are limited-stop bus services which provide a direct connection to MRT Stations for estates farther away from transport nodes.

In tandem with the launch of the new bus services 451, 452 & 453, existing express feeder bus services will be renumbered as follows:

Hmm so 34X became a reality, thought it was unlikely for them to go ahead.

114 extension, surprised it was cut to YCK. Was previously rumoured to go Singapore zoo, but i guess the runtime would be > 2 hrs which LTA didnt liked.

More surprised 5 more CDS for northeast region. I would like to think most would originate from punggol/punggol coast instead, since SWDEP won’t have enough non E-bus to operate them initially.

Why must 44 be a peak hour service?

Got this from some friends: The renumbering of express feeders into the 45x was to differentiate them with the “parent services”. Apparently many residents got confused on where the X-suffix service went. For example, many thought 979X went to Limbang, and 298X to OTH
Psychologically speaking it makes perfect sense, because people associate their destination with the number, so if 979X has “979” in it, it’s easy to confuse with the parent service.

However, it begs the question of why the general public is so called “transit illiterate” and LTA being suckups. Firstly, to all other people out there who suffered having to deal with something called an “M” service and an “e” service, how long did it take for you to get accustomed to the new numbering? Shouldn’t be long, since the “M” & “e” service still exists with those suffixes today. So why do people now suddenly get confused over “X”? It does not take one long to memorise that this route doesn’t go where and does go where, even if you aren’t a transport enthusiast.
Anyways, just thoughts. The entire renumbering thing doesn’t bring any harm either, so it’s safe to go on with it.

With regards to 44, there were internal rumours of 34e which were mentioned in a comment of another page. Looks like 44 is a stand in to 34e, plying different sectors too. But again…. similar to the 230 to Caldecott case, do people not know what a “transfer” is? Punggol to the Airport has something called 3/34 > 110/858, which doesn’t even take much time, and probably costs nothing more than normal trunk fare (transfers can be free of charge).

991C > 451 is crazy but okay you’re just extending 991C to Keat Hong, For those who didn’t know, 991C actually already plies “express” along that proposed sector, because buses get so full there’s no use stopping at those stops unless pax are alighting, The rebranding feels extra, plus it’s an express sector for 2 stops 💀. At this point LTA is just trying to spoil Singaporeans, even at the cost of their own benefit.

146 to Kovan has been awaited ever since the route was launched. The route was dropped in another LTG Page (assume it’s the 146 one). It’s been more than a year since then. Take note. More than a year.

114 to YCK I have seen many commenters propose this route back in 2023-24. Looks like your dream is finally coming true. But, how would they even route this such that it doesn’t duplicate any existing services? My guess is that the extension is supposed to benefit Buangkok residents for added connectivity to surrounding estates and amenities. Say, maybe Serangoon North. Though Fernvale sounds better.

And cricket, 5 new CDS? Honestly they’re overdoing it. How the heck are they going to route them such that it doesn’t overlap with existing CDS??
Can we bring back full day express services from the NE to the City?

44 will definitely be under GAS, they probably wont need to lease more buses but if theres a need, then lease more BYD, Zhongtong. Existing Citaros can redeploy to do 44

104 will be a renumber 43m and will likely use the current 43m DDs.

984 is under TTS, recent DD transfer from SBST is likely for just that and maybe 674 upsize. TTS should be leasing more BYD & Zhongtongs considering their OC500LEs are not getting extended unlike SMRT’s.

451, 452, 453 will likely be all under TTS, maybe 451 have chance under SMRT. Again need more to lease more EV buses, and perhaps the last of the storage buses.

114 & 146 extention can use extra SWDEP Diesel buses/electric buses, no need to lease. Those A22s going from depot from depot every month can be used as perms especially 146 which is from Hougang Depot.

Lots of upcoming new bus routes but all of them dont serve long distance routes anymore, they dont make them like they use to.

The future fleet of buses would be drawn from SMRT’s GBDEP excess fleet ever since their e-bus on service. That would solve the issue. It’s kinda weird they lease the BYD and Zhongtong considering their charges are alot slower compared to the ones installed in GB, SW and ECID. They are one of the weird contenders to operate those models. LY I can understand, since they are rumoured to go into ECID as well.

And speaking of SWDEP, there is not a whole lot of diesel buses left. The Scanias u see are for non-SWDEP services + their corresponding spare fleet should downtime occurs.

Meanwhile, the citaros are for 27 with a spare of 5 + 1 for standby duty at hougang (Making it 41) + CDS + 156’s fleet.

Apart from those recently trf-ed in, 5 of them were actually direct swap (SBS6037G, SBS6068S, SBS6168L, SBS6606P, SBS6853S) – Notably, 3 were 27 buses, 1 was a CDS bus but CO to 27 (6037G), 1 was a SP. No idea why, but they were deployed to CDS services and 27 received their citaros in return (SBS6005Z, SBS6079K, SBS6142K)

The rest might just be for downtime usage since no additional buses from SWDEP were trfed out (So fleet add for the timebeing). Btw, SWDEP not intaking more e-buses. 200 should be the final number for now. The remaining will split to ECID and GB. Though when it goes nearer to tampines handover, volvo b5lh might be swapped with SWDEP e-bus (GAS rejected the B5LH and enviro before)
