The first-generation Bukit Panjang LRT Trains are slated to be decommisioned by the end of September 2025.
19 units of the Bombardier Innovia APM 100 (C801) have been progressively replaced by Alstom Innovia APM 300R (C801B) trains as part of the Bukit Panjang LRT Overhaul. These trains have served passengers on the BPLRT since the line opened in November 1999.
Decommissioning of the first-generation Bukit Panjang LRT trains began in November 2023, with Car Number 101 lifted off the guideway in the early hours of 26 November 2023. Subsequent trains were lifted down progressively in tandem with the delivery of their replacements.
A Facbeook post by SMRT mentions the phasing out of first-generation LRT trains by September 2025. According to community-run SGTrains Spotters, 16 of these trains have already been decommisioned, while 3 remaining trains were last spotted on 12 September 2025. (Information correct as of 17 September 2025)
With the targeted end-of-September 2025 deadline fast approaching, the remaining three first-generation trains are expected to be taken out of service imminently, marking the end of an era for the Bukit Panjang LRT. Their decommissioning signifies a major step forward in the line’s comprehensive overhaul, paving the way for a fully modernized system to serve residents for years to come.

We missed you Bombardier Innovia APM 100 C801 🙁
Today already 22 September 2025.
Most probably, by now already all decommissioned already.
So, may I advise anyone who’s interested, to not bother camping for it. That train model no more already.
But nonetheless, the newer BPLRT trains are similar. So, actually no loss. It’s just replacement of older assets with newer assets only.
Every month will have at least one C801 train being lift down from track.
