First Jurong Region Line Trains delivered to Singapore

The Jurong Region Line (JRL) Hyundai Rotem J151 trains have arrived in Singapore!

One of the first trains was spotted on the roads on the night of 17 September 2025, with features matching that of the J151 trains – teal coloured livery with three wide doors on each side of every train car.

62 of such trains were procured for the future Jurong Region Line, which is expected to opened in phases from 2027. The trains are delivered to Singapore by sea, and then transported out of the port by road. The train was later spotted to be delivered to Tengah MRT Depot.

While the trains are being delivered and undergo testing prior to commencing service, a mock-up cabin of the train is situated at the Land Transport Authority (LTA) Hampshire Office.

On closer look, the Jurong Region Line livery looks like the Taiwan 文湖線 livery. And coincidentally, 文湖線 is 25 kilometres with 24 stations.

Although, they both use different types of rail systems, and our Jurong Region Line clearly has higher capacity.

But there’s always a possibility that the livery copy 文湖線 livery, since Singapore MRT operators and Taipei Metro know each other.

    Here’s an interesting information.

SBST. Contract for JRL was awarded to them a few months ago.

Partly true. It’s part of a consortium between SBST (75.01%) and RATP of France (24.99%) under “Singapore One Rail”

Am very happy. The commencement of passenger service is now inching closer. Looking forward to riding the Jurong Region Line from my house nearby the Gek Poh station to the surrounding line’s different types of new developments. 😊
