The BYD B70A02 (BYD J6) is an electric midibus bus offered by Chinese bus manufacturer BYD Auto Industry (比亞迪).

Under the Land Transport Authority (LTA)’s Autonomous Public Bus Pilot, it procured six BYD B70A02 buses in 2025, retrofitted with autonomous driving hardware and software from Zhidao Network Technology (Beijing) (Brand Name: MOGOX). Buses are expected to enter service in mid-2026.

Introduction

As part of the Ministry of Transport (MOT) and the LTA’s plans to pilot the use of Autonomous Vehicle (AV) technology, authorities sought to procure six autonomous buses, to be deployed on passenger service for an initial three-year period, commencing in mid-2026.

In October 2025, the tender was awarded to a consortium comprising MKX Technologies Pte Ltd, Zhidao Network Technology (Beijing) Co. Ltd, and BYD (Singapore) Pte Ltd, for a contract sum of around $8.14 million. As part of this tender, six BYD B70A02 buses were delivered for local trials.

The first of these buses arrived in March 2026, according to an LTA Facebook post.

Exterior Sensor Suite

MOGOX supplies the bus’ autonomous driving solution, with various exterior sensors and cameras mounted around the front, rear, and sides of the bus. These sensors are also factory-fitted rather than retrofitted, making them well-integrated and less visible on the exterior.

Interior

The BYD B70A02 bus features a low-entry design for wheelchair-accessibility in the front of the bus. Only a single leaf door is equipped for passenger boarding and alighting, with an emergency door on the right side of the bus.

There are 16 passenger seats, each equipped with 2-point seat belts in the bus. Of these, 7 seats are located at the raised platform towards the back of the bus, accessed via 3 steps. 5 priority seats are designated in the step-free section of the bus.

The bus is equipped with a wheelchair bay with a foldable seat integrated into the wheelchair backrest. A stroller restraint system is also provided.

Dashboard / Driver Cabin

The driver cabin features typical fare revenue equipment installed on public buses, including the Multi Application Display Terminal (MADT) as part of the new Fleet Management System for public buses, as well as the legacy New Onboard Bus Equipment.

The full suite of equipment from TNT Surveillance is also installed, including the Camera Mirror System display screens, driver anti-fatigue camera, as well as an interior CCTV footage display.

Additional screens for the MOGOX autonomous driving kit are also installed at the driver’s cab and in the passenger cabin.

Passenger Information / ADAS

The bus is installed with a Passenger Information Display System (PIDS) from Luminator Technologies Group, featuring LCD screens facing the interior (behind the driver cabin) and on the exterior of the bus. Advanced Driver Assistance Systems from TNT Surveillance are also installed.

975 because always double decker but no one inside. A bit like ghost bus. Also put 405 since it only operates on selected days.

if they choose to get more of these buses these other services could get them: 6, 42, 91, 115, 403, 405, 825, 882, 962 and any feeder route

      > 962 or any feeder route

You have to be joking, most of these services see higher demand than most proper trunk services. Deploying these mini-vans (it would be an insult to call these “buses”) is just asking for trouble
