Renumber for what though? Seems like it only will cause confusion. Now extra effort is incurred from informing people 455 is a short trip variant of 979 through posters, along with correction of every bus stop sign with 979X on it. Whereas simply the name 979X already strongly suggests it is an “Xpress” service of 979, leading to minimal confusion amongst commuters. The same goes for every upcoming 45X numbered bus in general. Go through so much trouble yet I don’t see how this improves our bus system — a pointless bus system change.
In my personal opinion, so that LTA and the MPs can recognize their effort, at the end of the 5 years, we have services 450 to 460 for example. Another thought is that I think that they may scrap all 450s services once they win/lose the next election? because renumbering it all = easy removal of all as well (they can just quote not enough ridership for all thats why we scraping), same as when they suddenly scrap NR services. Very sly LTA…
FOUND THE REAL REASON FOR RENUNBERING! So that they can charge more. For service 298X > 21X: the service will operate as a trunk route instead of a feeder service, Maybe in future they will change it to charge express pricing? who knows?
SMRT will do a bad job with them. Should give to TT

This service should skip yewtee MRT as there already have 302 302A & 979 to support during peak towards cck crescent. This service could run through cck st 62 in stead of the yewtee MRT which is at the back of the station. There are two bus stop which have no service for many years is really a waste ..
(2) Towards bukit panjang this service could make a last stop which is blk 702 cck drive before turning to kje .
Hope this service could do some amendment.
Hopefully there is some changes within the route or operating hours for evening
peak
Wouldn’t this be the same as 979X
it is, in fact, a renumber
Yup, so the new trend is that these are limited-stop services, operating during peak hours only. Since 979X has the same function, it will be renumbered to follow 45(X), as seen from the new services 451, 452, and 453 under the BCEP
