Short Trip Service 53A is a trunk service operating from Pasir Ris Drive 1 (Blk 738) and ends at Changi Airport Terminal 2 on Weekday mornings.

As a Short-Trip Service, the route operates during Weekday Morning Peak hours and supplements the high demand for Service 53 from residential estates along Pasir Ris Drive 1, connecting residents to Changi Airport.

Changi Airport:

Service 53A serves Changi Airport Terminals 3, 1 & 2 in order.

Changi Airport Passenger Terminal Buildings (PTBs) 1, 2 and 3 have their bus stops integrated into their basement levels, which also serves as a cargo loading and unloading bay. Security checks for any unattended or suspicious articles are carried out before a bus enters Terminals 1, 2 and 3.

Occasionally when Changi Airport basement is closed, buses will be diverted to the departure hall along T1/T2/T3 Departure Drive where a temporary bus stop will be set up.

Announcements for passengers to inform the Bus Captain if they see any suspicious person or article are played on board public buses at Changi Airport as well.

Route History:

• 2016 (01 Sep): Introduced as a short-trip service from Pasir Ris Dr 1 (Blk 738) to Changi Airport PTB 2 during morning peak hours on weekdays. Wheelchair-accessible at launch
• 2022 (30 Oct): Amended to ply Pasir Ris St 12 and Pasir Ris St 11 with the partial closure of Pasir Ris Dr 1 to facilitate the construction of Pasir Ris East MRT station on the Cross Island MRT Line
• 2023 (08 Oct): Amended to ply Pasir Ris Dr 8 and Pasir Ris Ctrl with the partial closure of Pasir Ris Dr 1 to facilitate the construction of Pasir Ris MRT station on the Cross Island MRT Line

Previous Generation Service 53A:

The former Service 53A was introduced on 27 Feb 2012, plying from Hougang Ave 1 (Opp Blk 232) to Serangoon Ctrl (Blk 261) during Morning Peak hours. Service 53B – (Serangoon Ctrl (Blk 206) → Hougang Ave 1 (Blk 232)) plied in opposite direction during Evening Peak hours.

Short Trip Services 53A & 53B were withdrawn with the introduction of Service 53M (Hougang Avenue 1 ↺ Serangoon Central (Loop)) under the Land Transport Authority’s Bus Service Enhancement Programme (BSEP) on 16 Aug 2015.
