Buangkok Bus Interchange is an Integrated Transport Hub (ITH) located at Buangkok. It is situated within the Sengkang Grand Mall integrated development, comprising a 3-level retail mall, a hawker centre, a childcare centre, a community club, and a condominium.

Buangkok ITH will commence operations from 1 December 2024.

Buangkok is the twelfth (12th) ITH to open in Singapore. Rail connections are offered via the adjacent Buangkok MRT Station along the North East Line, allowing for convenient transfers between bus services and the rail network.

Interchange Layout

Buangkok Bus Interchange contains 19 end-on parking lots arranged into 7 end-on berths.

The ITH is also the first to be designed only with end-on berths, as opposed to the more common sawtooth berth design. Toa Payoh and Boon Lay are the only other ITHs employing a mix of end-on and sawtooth berths, while HarbourFront and Saint Michael’s are the only other bus interchanges/terminals designed with exclusive use of end-on berths.

Vehicles enter/exit the interchange via a signalised T-junction with Sengkang Central. For emergencies, a backup vehicle access gate leads to the loading/unloading bay of Sengkang Grand Mall, which is accessed via Compassvale Bow.

Brief History

Plans for the interchange were first mooted as part of the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA)’s 2013 Draft Masterplan. Located in the heart of the Buangkok neighbourhood and adjacent to Buangkok MRT Station, the interchange would be integrated within a mixed-use development envisioned as an integrated community and transport hub to meet the needs of some 20,000 residents in Buangkok.

The proposed mixed-use development would integrate a bus interchange, a hawker centre (Buangkok Hawker Centre) and a 3-storey community club (Buangkok Community Club), alongside a childcare centre and retail spaces. A tender for the development of the land parcel was launched on 28 December 2017 and was awarded to Siena Residential Development Pte. Ltd. and Siena Trustee Pte. Ltd. (as Trustee-Manager of Siena Commercial Trust) at a tender price of S$777.78 million on 16 August 2018. A condominium development (Sengkang Grand Residences) would be built atop the retail/community/bus interchange components, comprising 680 residential units across 9 blocks.

Sengkang Grand Mall opened in March 2023, with the other amenities and residential apartments gradually opening thereafter.

I really hope 115 and 965 will start at buangkok. It is because with 965 going to Buangkok, it will thus enhance more connectivity for the buangkok residents as they can go to Woodlands more easily. As for 115, they should move it to start at Buangkok because if 115 move to Buangkok, the lots at Hougang Street 21 will thus be used for the carpark at Kovan for more lots during the peak period as sometimes, the carpark is very crowded.

    My speculations:
    110: Changi Airport
    114: Buangkok Crescent (Loop)
    156: Clementi

    104: Punggol Coast (New svc)
108: Tengah (New svc) via TPE, Mandai, Bukit Panjang, & Bukit Batok
883: Sembawang (Extend) via TPE, Jalan Kayu
965: Woodlands (Amend to become bi-directional)

104 is Punggol Coast – Woodleigh, renumbered from 43M (TBC from LTA)
108 I think should have potential to serve Central Area instead, gives both Tengah and Hougang alternative route to City.

I wonder why they never extended 965 in the first place…

I hope there will be service guides too. All the operators have seem to stop printing service guides and SBST too which is worrying and sad. Even at eunos and bukit merah bus interchanges the service guide racks have been removed

Kick SMRT out la and let 110 back into Sengkang-Hougang package.115 should start from the ITH and new service from Punggol Coast terminate here from GAS and 965 terminate here as well and introduce one new feeder.

Firstly, I don’t know how many times I must repeat: 115 MUST NEVER CHANGE ITS ROUTE!!! 115 is CIRCULAR, meaning changing its route to a loop service will affect the whole thing as one area will lose connection to another!

Secondly, minuscule chance a service from Punggol Coast would terminate here. The closest you can get is the future Service 104 (via insider info, its renumbered from 43M, extended to PGC and Woodleigh)

Thirdly, it is impossible to form a feeder in Buangkok. After all, Buangkok is part of Sengkang Town, not Hougang, which is why 114 is not a feeder.

SBST printed a introduction guide for Buangkok and distributed them at Clementi, but the stock ran out pretty quickly
