Buangkok Bus Interchange is an Integrated Transport Hub (ITH) located at Buangkok. It is situated within the Sengkang Grand Mall integrated development, comprising a 3-level retail mall, a hawker centre, a childcare centre, a community club, and a condominium.

Buangkok ITH commenced operations on 1 December 2024.

Buangkok is the twelfth (12th) ITH to open in Singapore. Rail connections are offered via the adjacent Buangkok MRT Station along the North East Line, allowing for convenient transfers between bus services and the rail network.

Interchange Layout

Buangkok Bus Interchange contains 19 end-on parking lots arranged into 7 end-on berths.

The ITH is also the first to be designed only with end-on berths, as opposed to the more common sawtooth berth design. Toa Payoh and Boon Lay are the only other ITHs employing a mix of end-on and sawtooth berths, while HarbourFront and Saint Michael’s are the only other bus interchanges/terminals designed with exclusive use of end-on berths.

Vehicles enter/exit the interchange via a signalised T-junction with Sengkang Central. For emergencies, a backup vehicle access gate leads to the loading/unloading bay of Sengkang Grand Mall, which is accessed via Compassvale Bow.

Brief History

Plans for the interchange were first mooted as part of the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA)’s 2013 Draft Masterplan. Located in the heart of the Buangkok neighbourhood and adjacent to Buangkok MRT Station, the interchange would be integrated within a mixed-use development envisioned as an integrated community and transport hub to meet the needs of some 20,000 residents in Buangkok.

The proposed mixed-use development would integrate a bus interchange, a hawker centre (Buangkok Hawker Centre) and a 3-storey community club (Buangkok Community Club), alongside a childcare centre and retail spaces. A tender for the development of the land parcel was launched on 28 December 2017 and was awarded to Siena Residential Development Pte. Ltd. and Siena Trustee Pte. Ltd. (as Trustee-Manager of Siena Commercial Trust) at a tender price of S$777.78 million on 16 August 2018. A condominium development (Sengkang Grand Residences) would be built atop the retail/community/bus interchange components, comprising 680 residential units across 9 blocks.

Sengkang Grand Mall opened in March 2023, with the other amenities and residential apartments gradually opening thereafter.

43 doesn’t look like it will be affected from rationalisation.

if `101 extends to Buangkok ITH what is the reason of keeping 114 there if 101 will duplicates the entire route of service 114

the rest of the services are fine but maybe we could add service 159 since they are 2-3 services serving from Sengkang to Toa Payoh. 156 still stays at Sengkang ITH, replacing sectors of 159

Service 83-Buangkok ITH to Punggol INT/MRT(Loop)
Service 101- Buangkok ITH to Serangoon ITH
Service 110- Buangkok ITH to Changi Airport(Loop)
Service 114- possibly withdrawn, sectors replaced by 101
Service 159- Buangkok ITH to Toa Payoh ITH
Service 374- Buangkok ITH to Fernvale Road(Loop)

Compassvale INT would not have any services since 110 & 374 will extend to Buangkok IHT
      New Services at Compassvale INT:
Service 176- Compassvale INT to Jurong East INT, passing via TPE/SLE, Springleaf, Mandai, Woodlands Rd, Upp Bukit Timah, Hillview & Bukit Batok, the purpose of 176’s extension to Sengkang is to connect workers who stay in Sengkang to get to their workplace in Mandai & Woodlands Road, the lost sectors will be covered by service 5`1
Service 80- Compassvale INT to Harbourfront INT, Using 80’s original route via Hougang, Paya Lebar & CBD

New service 997 could also be launched with the opening of Buangkok ITH, passing from Bukit Batok int To Sengkang ITH Via Hillview Rgency condo, Jurong Kechil, PIE, Thomson, Bishan, Ang Mo Kio & Buangkok Green

997 will connect a direct link from Sengkang to Beauty World/Bukit Batok
997 will also ply a faster route from Sengkang to Bukit Batok (other than 176 extension)

      replacements of deleted sectors:
service 51- Replacing sectors of service 176 from Jurong East to Labrador Park MRT
Services 120/273- replacing 176 sectors from Bukit Merah to Telok Blangah Road
Services 156/997- replacing sectors of 159 from Buangkok Green to Sengkang ITH

URA master plan states the existing land at compassvale bus interchange is now a reserved site.

So I am actually like convinced what that guy said might be true, compassvale be demolished, like BULIM and LYDEP (Sungei serangoon depot) in the future.

As it is almost 99.9% certainty 110 will be part of sengkang-hougang package, but is currently holding off transfer because of HGDEP overcrowding (resulting in 1835-1837, 1845, 6389 returns to storage amidst poor condition).

114 to spring leaf is also plausible because there’s no existing connection from North East, which is why 101 could be extended.

He indeed sound convincing, but best to await confirmation. Progress check so far, the infrastructure seems completed already. Left the opening of the middle section of the road for vehicles turning right.

I doubt 374 would be moved to Buangkok rather than Sengkang
