Buangkok Bus Interchange

Buangkok Integrated Transport Hub (ITH) is an upcoming bus interchange located at Buangkok, currently under construction as part of the Sengkang Grand Mall development. The bus interchange was expected to be operational in Q3 2023, according to the mall’s website.

Brief History

Plans for the interchange were first mooted as part of the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA)’s 2013 Draft Masterplan. Located in the heart of Buangkok neighbourhood, the interchange will be part of a mixed-use development envisioned as an integrated community hub to meet the needs of some 20,000 residents in Buangkok.

The proposed mixed-use development will have an integrated community and transport hub with a bus interchange on the first storey, a hawker centre on the second storey and a community club that spans across three storeys, alongside childcare centres and retail shops. Located adjacent to Buangkok MRT Station, the development will also be a transport node for the residents of Buangkok.

As the focal point and an identity marker for the Buangkok neighbourhood, the URA prioritized thoughtfully-designed public spaces which were well integrated with transport and community uses. A tender for the development of the land parcel was launched on 28 December 2017, and was awarded to Siena Residential Development Pte. Ltd. and Siena Trustee Pte. Ltd. (as Trustee-Manager of Siena Commercial Trust) at a tender price of S$777.78 million on 16 August 2018.

The Interchange

Based on the floor plans provided as part of the Sengkang Grand Residence development, Buangkok Bus Interchange would feature end-on berths with 19 parking lots.

The main vehicle ingress/egress leads to Sengkang Central, while a backup ingress/egress at the opposite end of the interchange led to Compassvale Bow, via the loading/unloading bay of Sengkang Grand Mall.

So, according to a user in the Skyscrapercity forum website who regularly takes photos of the interchange construction, in their latest photos that they took, it shows the LTA signages being pasted at the various entrances. Is this an indication that the opening might be coming soon?

This is so insane. Impossible for extensions to Sengkang & Hougang. Also impossible for a Feeder Svc in Bangkok

My personal ideas about which bus services will be amended here (pls dun kill me!):

Service 80: Buangkok needs a bus service to MacPherson estate (as seen in 43 current diverted route to Buangkok MRT). 43 can amend to not serve Buangkok MRT but now serve Sengkang MRT by diverting to Compassvale Rd. [Buangkok – HarbourFront]

Service 109: Shortened from Serangoon. Literally duplicating 70 all the way to Serangoon thru YCK Rd. Serangoon residents need this service I say just take NEL to Buangkok/Sengkang and take this service can already. [Buangkok – Changi Village]

Service 110: Extended from Compassvale. Compassvale can close down, 374 go to Sengkang to fill in empty berth space from 80. [Buangkok ↻ Changi Airport Terminal 2].

Service 114: Do I need to explain? [Buangkok ↻ Buangkok Loop]

Service 151: Extended from Hougang. Buangkok residents need a connection to Toa Payoh & Kent Ridge easily, currently I see no bus that goes to Kent Ridge from here. I think like this Service 115 can also now amend to Hougang instead of starting at Kovan Hub. [Buangkok – Kent Ridge]

Service 322: New loop Service to Hougang St 51 (Buangkok Int -> Buangkok Green -> YCK Rd -> Hougang Ave 9 -> Hougang St 51 -> Buangkok Green -> Buangkok Int). [Buangkok ↻ Hougang St 51]

With 109, SBS prob keeping the YCK Road portion cause 70 got major demand in the morning peak, so SBS would want to provide more capacity towards Serangoon MRT, I do think 109 could be shortened to Buangkok once CRL Stage 1 opens, since people can take CRL to Loyang and catch a bus to Changi Village that way.

Tbh Service 83 can be extended to Buangkok since it currently just loops at Sengkang, extending 83 can give more options for residents heading into Punggol East without using the LRT

I agree with the closure of Compassvale Interchange, it should just be relegated to a bus park status, then 110 and 374 can be moved to Buangkok and Sengkang interchanges respectively

With 322, I think it’s more reasonable to merge with 114 to form a Green/White plate service, let’s say 375G/W, that can serve Buangkok Crescent and Hougang Street 51

From Buangkok, there could be an additional bus service that could serve the new developments up at Sengkang Northwest area

NA, 109 can stay, this is one of the bus service with almost full from the interchange during peak hour, there is a reason why this service has Double deck and with a service 109A. They need this service up to Hougang area

No need to think about closing Compassvale Interchange, they don just build an interchange just to close down a few years later. Just like sv 39, it is still in Tampines concourse interchange though they can just shift back to Tampines interchange

Saying 43 should be amended out of Buangkok int is so absurd, 43 Is a literal lifeline for people living along Buangkok green and Buangkok drive, to get to work, cad and many other areas.
