What is the loading like for Service 162 after the route amendment looping at Sin Ming Dr currently from YCK? Always see this service having low loading capacity or no one taking especially at night.
Why not consider to extend this service from Yio Chu Kang to Yishun Bus Interchange via AMK Ave 6, Yio Chu Kang Rd (Serve those industrial areas), Seletar West Link (Can build new bus stops for people going to companies along West Camp Rd side for work and have access to Seletar Country Club), Yishun Ave 1, Ave 6, Street 31 (Serving new BTOs along Yishun East area), Ring Rd (Wisteria Mall), Ave 4 (Yishun Safra), Central (KTPH), and Ave 2 (Can complement Service 805 since loading can have full pax cap during peak hours from Ring Rd to Ave 2)?
On the tail end side, Service 162 can be extended to Toa Payoh Bus Interchange after looping at Sin Ming Dr via Marymount Rd, Thomson Rd, Toa Payoh Rise (Access to Caldecott MRT), and Lor 1 Toa Payoh. In this way, those commuters can continue taking the red (North-South) MRT line from Toa Payoh Bus Interchange to town area if they thought Service 162 still travels to Novena, Newton, Orchard, City Hall or Raffles Place area.
For AMK side, can also amend the route to serve AMK Ave 8 fully for NYP students to have direct access to AMK MRT. Can still rely on Service 853 to serve along AMK Ave 6, Ave 3, and Ave 8 towards Bishan side.
I think SBS bus 162 would be amended or shortened to serve Midview City near Bright Hill MRT station or turn right from Sin Ming to Upp Thomson Rd (instead of Left) looping at Bishan Park before heading back to Yio Chu Kang for Thomson East Coast Line Rationalisation.
