Back to Bus Articles
The frequency of bus service 62 has deteriorated very badly in recent years. Waiting for nearly half an hour for the service is absurd.
Initially, before Ponggol, Sengkang and Upper Serangoon were fully developed, the bus service was good. They had many buses, sometimes within 3 minutes interval.
Now the timings are getting from bad to worse, and crowded, especially during the morning peak periods.
Please put in more buses or recruit more drivers. Some drivers tend to speed I noticed.
BUS SERVICE 62 TIMING IS EXTREMELY UNRELIABLE!!! This is not the first time i’m experiencing this. Bus timing showing arriving in 1-2mins, while the next bus is about 7-9mins away. End up, after 5 mins when the next bus timing is getting closer, the “1-2mins bus still hasn’t appeared!!! And then, all of a sudden, the 1-2mins bus will just “gone with the wind” and awaiting for the following bus to arrive. WHAT IS THIS??? I could have just took another bus service 136 from the opposite, which may take slightly longer route as compared, but always ON TIME! I don’t understand, both buses 62 and 136 are coming out from Punggol Interchange, abd bus 62 by right should be faster due to lesser bus stops, BUT more than often the bus service 62 turns out to be a BIG LIE!!! It often result in late for appointment due to the bus timing, especially when running late!! Can this be rectified pls?
May I know what number to call for lost and found department?
I left a step tracker on bus 62 around 10.30pm on 10 Dec 2017 towards punggol interchange
I need to collect back by 11 Dec 2017.
Hi ,
The frequency of Bus Service 62 as shown below.
0530-0830: 08 – 09 mins
0831-1659: 08 – 17 mins
1700-1900: 08 – 14 mins
After 1900: 12 – 17 mins
The frequency during 0831 – 1659 is 8 to 17 mins. Many people are rushing to work from 0730 to 0930 and this caused so much unpredictability and anguish when a person should missed a bus and forced to wait 17 minutes for the next one.
The frequency during 1700-1900 is 8 to 14 mins. Many people are rushing back from work from 1700 to 2000. Many children are anxiously waiting for their parents to bring back dinner or come home for dinner.
In addition, there are frequent cases where two bus 62 arrive together due to the long wait of the first bus and picking up a bus load full of passengers. When the second bus arrived, the passengers were picked up by the first bus 62 and thus the second bus had less passengers to pick up or drop off, resulting in faster commute. This also caused the above problem to repeat as the third bus will pick up the pent up collection of passengers while the fourth bus cruises closely behind. A more frequent bus service schedule will prevent this from occurring.
Please review the frequency and improve on this aspect. An ideal interval is 8-11 mins. Should there be a traffic jam, the maximum wait for a person waiting for bus 62 will be better managed. Passengers going to work and back home will enjoy the peace of mind knowing the maximum wait is 11 mins during rush hour. This will promote better quality of life and reduce stress level in Singapore. Please consider my proposal and I look forward to a reply
Thanks
Pauline
