On 11 July 2018, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) awarded the tender to procure 111 Euro 6 Double Decker Buses to ST Engineering Land Systems Ltd., for a contract sum of about S$54 million. The unit cost of each bus is S$488,220.
The purchase of these buses are part of LTA’s efforts to replace the ageing bus fleet with cleaner and more efficient buses.
Upon delivery of the 111 MAN A95 Buses, the Land Transport Authority will allocate the buses to the Bus Operators (SBS Transit, SMRT Buses, Tower Transit, Go-Ahead Singapore) to operate on selected bus services.
Tender Process
The Land Transport Authority previously put up a tender for the Procurement of Euro 6 Double Deck Diesel Buses on Thursday, 28 December 2017 (Contract Ref. PT322).

Tender submissions closed on 13 Feb 2018 at 4:00pm, after being extended from 25 Jan 2018 and subsequently 8 Feb 2018).
Existing Buses
Euro VI (Euro 6) buses were first introduced in December 2017 with the launch of SG2017C, a MAN A95 bus and Singapore’s first Euro VI bus. A Volvo B8L, registered as SG4003D has entered revenue service since 2 April 2018.
Prior to the award of the PT322 tender, the Land Transport Authority had entered a negotiated contract (PT337 – Procurement of 250 MAN Buses) with ST Engineering Land Systems Ltd. for procurement of 150 Euro 6 Single (MAN NL323F) and 100 Double Decker (MAN A95) Buses, to similar specifications such as an enhanced Passenger Information Display System (PIDS). An option for additional Double Decker MAN A95 buses was also exercised under the negotiated contract.
The award of the PT322 tender to ST Engineering Land Systems Ltd would entail a second production batch of 111 MAN A95 Euro 6 buses.
Specifications
These new buses are Euro 6 (or Euro VI)-compliant, representing the latest in emission standards which came into effect since 1 January 2018 for all new diesel vehicles registered in Singapore. New requirements imposed by the LTA for new buses include an enhanced Passenger Information Display System (PIDS) comprising LED text displays, LCD display screens and interior speakers. In addition, an exterior-facing display screen and an external speaker is included. An Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), driver anti-fatigue system, high-definition CCTV cameras, and passenger counters at entrance and exit doors of the bus are among the additional specifications required by LTA.
Delivery
The first unit of the MAN A95 Euro 6 (Batch 2) buses was registered on 20 March 2020 as SG6172K and allocated to SMRT Buses.

Update: My friend saw a Euro 6 A95 without foglights (similar to the new Euro 6 A22s) parked inside STK recently.
STK/MAN must have won this Euro 6 DD tender.
Should be negotiated contract
Hmm 6 months has passed since the tender was issued and since then there has been no news on this tender yet… Could they have left it unawarded in favour of a negotiated contract? Or could this tender be a decoy afterall?
I guess we can confidently say that “runners” in this double deck procurement race will be MAN/Gemilang and Volvo/Wright (new body design?) – but what of ADL – are they a possibility?
Maybe 50% MAN 95,30% Volvo B8L & 20% ADL E500
I think the Volvo B8L would be brought once again in huge demands. As for the A95, there are 56 spares laying over at bulim, so i dont think LTA is gonna buy more?
But what i am sure, LTA will definitely replace all those retiring tridents with either (1) 20 A95 from BULIM (2) Buy the B8L in minor quantities and test it out first before buying in bulk.
To add on, i dont really thinl the tridents will get a lifespan extension unlike the B10M.
2 reasons…
(1) As mentioned earlier, there are 56 spare buses in BULIM, even tho some are for the retiring bendies, but in 2018 there wont be much being deregistered.
(2) Some B10M have extended lifespan because there was a shortage of mercedes benz buses to replace all 50 B10M when SEDEP already not receiving enough BSEP SD.
Is that the reason why SE took 20 KUBs?
Those 56 is just nice for the retiring bendies,As for euro6 DDs,they definitely need more to replace Tridents,VSOs and probably the euro3 B9TL.
And i would think euro6 MAN A22 suchs as NL283F or NL323F will replace the euro4 KUBs
