Full Sunday Closures along the East West Line (EWL) will be conducted on selected Sundays from March to May 2021 to facilitate 22kV cable replacement works along the Tuas West Extension (TWE).
The Sunday closures are slated to take place across two different stretches. Closure of the Boon Lay—Tuas Link section will take place from mid-March to April 2021, and closure of the shorter Joo Koon—Tuas Link section will take place from April to May 2021.
About 150km of 22kV cables are being replaced with higher-specification cables, as part of precautionary measures against power cable faults and potential service disruptions. Additional engineering hours afforded by the Full Sunday Closures will accelerate the cable replacement works, which are expected to be completed by end-2021.

As a result, train services on the East West Line will be unavailable along the following sectors:
- EW27 Boon Lay — EW33 Tuas Link
(14, 21 & 28 March 2021; 4, 11 & 18 April 2021)
- EW29 Joo Koon — EW33 Tuas Link
(25 April 2021; 2, 9, 16 & 23 May 2021)
will be unavailable during the periods of closure, depending on the affected Sunday. Train services between the remaining sections of the EWL will not be affected.
Shuttle Bus Services
Shuttle Bus Services will be provided throughout the duration of the Sunday Closures. Fares for the Shuttle Bus Services are equivalent to the distance travelled by train.
