The Terminal:

Larkin Bus Terminal is the largest bus terminal in Johor Bahru, and the main terminating point for intercity coaches connecting Johor Bahru to the rest of Malaysia. Smaller numbers of local bus routes and cross-border routes also operate out of the terminal. The terminal building covers two to three floors, and contains ticketing counters, air-conditioned waiting areas, bus operator offices, a wet market, fast food outlets, money changers and many other sundry shops.

Larkin Terminal is connected to the JB city centre via bus routes P101, T10 and T13. For cross-border commuters heading to Singapore, three cross-border routes are offered (170, CWL and SJE).

JB local/stage buses

Local buses (also called stage buses) depart from end-on berths at the east side of the terminal.

Intercity coaches / ticketing

A Centralized Ticketing System (CTS) is in place for intercity coach tickets at Larkin since 15 December 2017. There are now several methods of purchasing express bus tickets:

  1. Purchase at self-service ticket kiosk
  2. Purchase online via Larkin Sentral website or other ticketing websites
  3. Purchase over-the-counter from manned ticket counters 1 – 8

For passengers buying online tickets from online websites (such redbus, busonlineticket, easybook, etc.), one must proceed to counter number 9 – 14 to exchange for a boarding pass, which grants entry into the departure hall.

Larkin Bus Terminal has collected an extra RM2 facilities fee from intercity bus passengers since 1 January 2022.

The RM1 boarding charge is only for those long-distance buses, and those buses going directly to JB Checkpoint (essentially, just 170). Cuz, the waiting area is in air-conditioned comfort.

Every bus around 40 passengers, every half hour collect RM40 in total, every hour RM80, every day around 12 hours can collect up to RM960.

This is probably to maintain the air-conditioning and the cleanliness of the air-conditioned bus waiting area.

The shops at Larkin Bus Terminal pay rental mainly for this purpose (to maintain the place).

Nonetheless, the method of payment used to be cash. With effect from 1st December 2023, they have went cashless, and only allow touch n go.

To those who no RM1 readily available, can go to the non-aircon area, that has no boarding charge, to take the local Causeway Link T13 bus routes to go back to JB Sentral. The only condition is, must have the Manjalink card, or RM3 in cash available.

Larkin Bus Terminal has many shops, that makes it comparable to JB City Square, even better than JB Komtar, and even better than the shops at JB Sentral. Even if not able to pay the RM1 boarding charge, can always take the local Causeway Link bus back to JB Sentral, or take the more obvious transport option: ride hire.

    You are welcome.
