New Paid Transfer Linkway at Outram Park MRT Station

A new underground linkway at Outram Park MRT station opened on Sunday, 29 May 2022. This new linkway is located within the paid area of the station, connecting the East West Line and North East Line.

Construction of the linkway was carried out as part of the Thomson-East Coast Line Stage 3 works, which will see Outram Park become a three-way interchange station. The old linkway will be reconfigured as a transfer corridor between the NEL and TEL, with the new linkway serving NEL-EWL transfer passengers.

The new linkway features travellators and Art-in-Transit pieces that represent ‘surreal human forms’, according to the Land Transport Authority. It also incorporates enhanced wayfinding signages that first made their debut in the TEL Stage 1.

Based on construction plans at Outram Park, the existing linkway would be closed to passengers indefinitely, as works will be carried out to reconfigure it as a transfer corridor between the NEL and TEL.

Expected to open later in 2022, the TEL Stage 3 will comprise 13 new stations, extending the TEL’s southern terminus to Gardens By The Bay; although two of these stations (Mount Pleasant and Marina South) will not be opening until surrounding areas are more developed.
