Prince Edward Road MRT Station (CC32) is a 30 meter deep underground station located along the Circle Line (CCL) Stage 6. It is built along Shenton Way, near the junctions of Keppel Road an Palmer Road, bringing rail connectivity to the Shenton Way business district, nearby places of worship, and future developments in the Keppel area.

The station is named after the nearby Prince Edward Road. The Keppel Port area south of the station is planned to be redeveloped after 2030, once the container port is moved to Tuas. The future Greater Southern Waterfront region, currently under planning, will provide more options for city living when it is developed in the future.

As the station box lies underneath the old Shenton Way Bus Terminal, the bus terminal was relocated to a new site further north to facilitate construction works. A turnback tunnel is built northeast of the station to facilitate train turnarounds.

Prince Edward Road MRT Station has two platforms utilized by the Circle Line. There are two additional unused platforms, hidden by knock out panels, at the upper and lower platform levels respectively for a future 3-car MRT line. Platform schematics for the station (including the future 3-car platforms) can be seen from the “Accessible Route at Platform Level” signage at platform level lifts.

Arranged in two island platforms spanning two underground floors, the future cross-platform transfer layout allows for quicker transfer between lines and optimized commuter flow based on their direction of travel.

Refer to the Station Travel Information System (STIS) for the destination and service information of upcoming trains.

A set of turnback tunnels, 350m long, are constructed to the east of Prince Edward Road MRT Station, facilitating the turnaround of trains that terminate at this station. South of the station towards Cantonment for both bounds, a spur track with buffers are installed to possibly connect Circle Line tracks to the future MRT line.

Maybe the 9th MRT line will serve Esplanade and Prince Edward Road stations? The unused platforms will come into fruition.

So, most likely this station will be an interchange station with the 9th MRT Line and serves as its southern terminus.

I think both the Prince Edward Road and Esplanade have this kind of unused platforms or intersections. This might mean for Esplanade, it could be a possibility of Holland-Paya Lebar Line whereas Prince Edward Road is for the Seletar Line.
