Riviera LRT Station (PE4) is a light rail station along the Punggol LRT (PGLRT)’s East Loop. Located within the Punggol New Town, the station is overground and built along Punggol East, between the junctions of Punggol Field and Punggol Central.
The station name was picked to match a seaside theme.
By 2032, Riviera LRT station will be an interchange station with the Cross Island Line (CRL), with the station code PE4CP3.
In a written answer to parliamentary questions in May 2021, Transport Minister Mr Ong Ye Kung mentioned that construction for rail projects were delayed by up to a year due to material supplies and manpower disruption as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. As a result, the revised opening year for Cross Island Line Punggol Extension will be in 2032 instead of the originally announced 2031.

Riviera station is overground with an island platform serving LRT services in both directions of the East Loop. Inner and Outer loop services run counter-clockwise and clockwise around the loop respectively.
Passenger Information Systems, which are LED displays located at each platform, display the route of the next train and scrolls through messages, while an analog clock gives the time. Tactile flooring helps to guide the visually-handicapped from the platform to the station exits. A staircase and lift connect the platforms to the ticket concourse at Level 2, one floor below.
Fixed platform barriers (without platform doors) are installed at the platform edge for commuters’ safety, and ceiling fans at the platform keep passengers cool.
Cross Island Line (Basement):
- Eastbound: Cross Island Line (Punggol Extension) towards CP1CR5EW1 Pasir Ris via CP2 Elias
- Westbound: Cross Island Line (Punggol Extension) towards CP4NE17PTC Punggol
Concourse

The station concourse at Level 2 features faregates for automatic fare collection and provides access between paid and unpaid areas of the station, with a bidirectional wide-swinging gate for the benefit of passengers-in-wheelchairs and those carrying bulky items or travelling with prams.
A General Ticketing Machine at the concourse allow commuters to purchase tickets for single or multiple journeys, and perform contactless card transactions. As with other PGLRT stations, the concourse has two ticketing machines: one located within unpaid areas and the other serving both paid and unpaid areas, with a swing gate that allows either side to access the machine at any one time. Since the station is not staffed, an intercom system near the faregates allows commuters to speak with PGLRT Operations Control Centre for assistance.
The concourse leads to an overhead bridge that spans across Punggol East, with lifts, escalators and stairs connecting to street level.

History
Riviera station opened in 29 January 2005 along with train services on the Punggol LRT East Loop.
Future Developments
The Cross Island Line station will be constructed as part of Contract P103 – Design and Construction of Riviera Interchange Station and Tunnels for CRL-Punggol Extension, which was awarded to Taisei Corporation – China State Construction Engineering Corporation Limited Singapore Branch Joint Venture in September 2022 at a contract value of around $1.1 billion.
Construction is expected to start in Q1 2023.
Engineering Highlights (CRL Punggol Extension Station)
A large-diameter Earth Pressure Balance (EPB) Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM), measuring about 12 metres in diameter will be used to construct a single 4.3-kilometre-long tunnel with two tracks in it. The tunnel will be constructed at an approximate depth of 25 metres below ground. LTA and the contractor will closely monitor the works to ensure that they are carried out safely and in a timely manner and minimise the impact to the nearby stakeholders.
