Tiong Bahru Integrated Transport Hub

Tiong Bahru Bus Interchange is a future Integrated Transport Hub (ITH) located at Tiong Bahru, currently under planning. It is located at the junction of Tiong Bahru Road and Lower Delta Road. Rail connections are offered via Tiong Bahru MRT Station along the East West Line.

Plans for the interchange were first mooted as part of the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA)’s 2019 Draft Masterplan.

However, this ITH was not mentioned in the Land Transport Master Plan 2040.

Better if some services stay at Bukit Merah so Bukit Merah Interchange still can stay there since it’s an old area
    I suggest if services 5, 16, 75, 131, 132, 139, 273, 851 & 961 amend to Tiong Bahru ITH

    And Services 16M, 57, 123, 153, 198, 431(New) & 961M(Amended) should still stay in Bukit Merah

Service 167 will be discontinued and Service 176 will Amend to Jurong Town Hall from BP and Compassvale

431 will connect residents of Bukit Batok East, Clementi, Holland Road, Tanglin Road & Redhill MRT
and also 431 will replace the deleted sectors of 132

Actually, Bukit Merah Bus Interchange, if want to relocate to the possible Tiong Bahru Integrated Transport Hub, the bus routes that currently already run pass Tiong Bahru MRT station and can just shorten to there are 5, 16, 851.

The deleted sector can let 3 trunk bus routes take over (reason why only trunk routes can: to maintain same capacity). Just nice, got 3 trunk bus routes coming from west of Bukit Merah Bus Interchange. They are: 139, 153, 198.

Whereas for the other bus routes,
57, 176, 272, 273: coming from the south: just amend to Tiong Bahru ITH.

131, 132, 75: coming from the north: rerouting to Tiong Bahru ITH should be easy. Deleted sectors can let 57, 176, 272 and 273 take over. May have overcapacity, but can be justified with more developments coming up at that area.

123: actually, this route can consider cancelling most of it, and only retain the Tiong Bahru MRT to Sentosa portion.

So, in a way, it’s actually possible to relocate Bukit Merah Bus Interchange to Tiong Bahru Integrated Transport Hub.

The above are my recommendations on how to transfer all the bus routes to the new location.

139 most likely get cut between Alexandra and BM. Deleted sectors can be replaced by a feeder service which loop at Rumah Ringgi.
153 and 198 can ply Jalan BM (covering 5 lost sector)
57, 176, 272 and 273 can go straight to Henderson Road (covering 16 and 851 lost sector)
131 can go straight to Lower Delta Road (covering part of 5 lost sector)
132 can go straight to Tiong Bahru Road
75 can make a right turn to Henderson Road and Tiong Bahru Road while maintaining its current sector between Havelock and Jalan BM.
123 route is hard to make amendments since it serve many areas such as Orchard, Farrer Road and Queensway.
5, 16, 851 will be shorten to the ITH.

The former PSB Academy campus building at Lower Delta will most likely be torn down to make way for this interchange. I predict the interchange will either completely replace Bukit Merah Int or will absorb a few services from Bukit Merah.
