The Land Transport Authority has announced plans to call a tender to construct 3 new pairs of bus stops and associated infrastructure along Tampines Expressway on 21 May 2026.
According to a social media post by Ms Sun Xueling (Member of Parliament for Punggol GRC), the bus stops are targeted to be completed by 2030.
Existing & New Bus Stops
Existing bus stops are:
(A) Jalan Kayu / Piccadilly Circus
The existing bus stops at Jalan Kayu (Bef Piccadilly Circus/TPE & Aft Piccadilly Circus/TPE) serve as an important transfer point between bus services along the Tampines Expressway corridor, and bus services to Seletar Aerospace Park, Jalan Kayu, Fernvale, and Yio Chu Kang Road.
(B) Tampines Expressway (Bef Punggol Rd / Aft Punggol Rd)
Opened on 28 August 2014, the pair of bus stops near the Punggol Flyover serves as a key transfer point between bus services that serve the stretch of Tampines Expressway between Punggol and Tampines / Pasir Ris.
Onward destinations from these stops on the Tampines Expressway include Changi Airport, Tampines, Pasir Ris, and Loyang for eastbound buses, and Yishun/Woodlands for westbound buses.
New Bus Stops
The three new bus stop pairs are:
(1) Jalan Kayu Flyover
This new pair of bus stops along TPE will serve the upcoming housing estates of Fernvale Oasis & Fernvale Plains along the future Fernvale Drive.
Current trunk bus services passing by this stretch include:
- 39, 86, 117/117M, 168 & 858
(serving Jalan Kayu / Piccadilly Circus) - 161, 965 & 969
(non-stop along TPE)
(2) Punggol West Flyover
This new pair of bus stops along TPE will serve:
- Punggol:
HDB Matilda Edge & Matilda Court housing estates along Sumang Lane - Sengkang:
Bellewaters & Treasure Crest private housing, HDB Anchorvale Parkview housing estate, & Outram Secondary School along Anchorvale Cres
Current trunk bus services passing by this stretch include:
- 39, 86, 117/117M, 168 & 858
(serving Jalan Kayu / Piccadilly Circus) - 161, 965 & 969
(non-stop along TPE)
(3) Punggol East Flyover
This new pair of bus stops along TPE will serve housing estates & schools along Rivervale Crescent, Punggol Field Walk and Punggol East.
Current bus services passing by this stretch include:
- 3, 27, 34, 88, 89, 89e, 109, 110, 118, 168, 858 & 969
(serving Bef/Aft Punggol Rd)

There goes 161 and *especially* 168’s usefulness – all slowed down to a glacial pace thanks to 10IQ “planners”. Won’t be surprised if both services begin to experience what 190 went through 10 years ago
although there shouldn’t be too much harm done if they also cut the jalan kayu roundabout sector of 168
AYE 2.0???
I like the positioning of the bus stops honestly. Better than the Normanton/Buona Vista ones on AYE that slow buses down at the traffic lights. TPE bus lane when
It’s most likely that the current Jln Kayu bus stops (most commonly known as “Camp G”) may close down once the new Seletar ones are up. Good thing though, the Camp G roundabout is quite annoying at times when you’re rushing and the bus has to stop at multiple traffic lights and turn huge curves just to stop there.
According to URA Space, the entire stretch of Piccadilly + surrounding housings are expected to be completely levelled and replaced with a reserve site (potential Seletar-Tengah Line MRT Depot site? 🤔). Meaning 103 & 117 would inevitably be amended away. My guess it that 117 would ply the new road linking Seletar A’space Dr to Seletar Lk, joining to TPE to serve the Punggol West pair of stops, while 103 MAY have to go via Seletar A’space Way, skip Jln Kayu and ply Sengkang W Dr if it still needs to connect to the TPE Bus Services at the Seletar pair of stops.
Next, I strongly believe LTA may have a secret plan up their sleeve for the Punggol East bus stops. Many of us will know the pain of morning/evening peak hours when that specific part of TPE, between Punggol & KPE, gets immensely congested and the bus gets stuck for nearly 20min. So is LTA hinting to us that by implementing these new Punggol East stops, they might also begin an Expressway Bus-Only Lane trial? 🤔
Meanwhile, I think some special arrangements need to be made to some bus services, in order not to slow them down too much
First, 168 & 858 should skip the Punggol East bus stops, if 27 & 110 respectively already serves them. 168 & 858 can serve the others (Seletar, PGL W) no problem
Second, 161, 965 & 969 should still skip all stops as per current arrangement. These ones should not prioritise connectivity for Punggol/Sengkang, but speed, for the Northerners.
Third, 89, 89e & 118 should also skip the Punggol East bus stops, so they bring the high demand of workers & students to their destinations faster.
Peak hours good luck adding more times than already ticking bomb jam prone buses face there.. Stupid ideas expressway meant to be express not stop here and there.
Exactly. This is a clear indication on the never ending downhill spiral and stupidity within the LTA management, especially with regards to decision making on bus transport services. The proposals from the MPs are always the first priority no matter how ridiculous they are. 😖
