Bus Service 973 is a short trunk service from Bukit Panjang to Hume Avenue, mainly serving residents along Hume Avenue and Petir Road with direct links to both Hillview and Bukit Panjang MRT Stations. The route duplicates Bus Service 700 / 700A from Bukit Panjang to Petir Road.

Due to buses having to filter right along Upper Bukit Timah Road near Hillview MRT Station, Bus Service 973 does not call at both Hillview Stn bus stops along Upper Bukit Timah Road (namely 43061 Upp Bt Timah Rd (Hillview Stn) and 43069 Upp Bt Timah Rd (Opp Hillview Stn). As such, commuters must alight at nearby bus stops and walk to Hillview MRT Station.

For Hillview MRT Station, commuters boarding Bus Service 973 towards Hume should board at 43069 Upp Bt Timah Rd (Opp Hillview Stn), just outside Hillview MRT Exit A.

Commuters boarding towards Petir Road / Bukit Panjang should board at 43891 Dairy Farm Rd (Aft Dairy Farm Cres), which requires crossing Dairy Farm Road from Hillview MRT Exit A. There is no sheltered walkway connecting to Hillview MRT Station.

Thank you for bus 973. I am a resident of Eco Sanctuary and my children are studying in Bukit Batok. It will help if we can extend bus 973 to Bukit Batok Interchange. I believe there are many residents in Chestnut Ave would like to go to Bukit Batok interchange or MRT and we have to change buses. For your consideration please.

The route of this bus is rather short. I am glad that this bus serve to supplement bus 966 and 700 via the Petir Road. I was abit disappointed as I was hoping there would be a bus that would connect busstop B44379/B44371 and B44219/B44211 together. I think the route of this bus should be extended to ply the road to ITE College West and Choa Chu Kang interchange too to supplement both bus 187 and bus 67 due to student demand. :)
